Seller says the engine is not original, but he found one (E5448) that was only 40 number off.

Something odd with the frame on this one?
Gussets at rear shock look to me to be the long type which run back under the rear seat mount. I always thought the long gussets did not appear until into 1970, ie, well past end of sandcast frame VINS.

Chris i also noticed the gussets at the rear shocks looked to be the longer version as came on later frames.

What exactly is the difference?

Can somebody please indicate on the picture?

And what do I have here, early or late KO? (Came off a KO DC 16.0xx)

Here is new attachment that shows short gusset on early frame. Hope this helps.
The photo provided has this area of your frame covered, so not possible to distinguish from your photo.

Thanks.
I though it's on the shock itself after reading Hondasan 's post.

You are correct. This is one of the closest re-stamp, forging, jobs I have ever seen. But it has been re-stamped and the font is wrong. Close, but NO CIGAR! Check closely and you can see differences in almost all the letters/numbers. The 0's and 5's are dead giveaways. See pictures below. 1005315 is genuine.

Keith, That's a very very good piece of identification.  :o I thought the numbers looked very deep compared to most stampings but didn't think much more about it. After noting Chris R's post I was looking more for frame patches but couldn't find any
Anyone gets that cigar should be yourself Great eye.  ;D
