E7414 has a strange clutch cover. I have seen 10-holed with a alloypin mounted in tenth hole but never as on E7414. The clutch cover is casted as a 10-hole but the tenth hole is alloyfilled by casting. Enginecase is a normal sandcast ninehole.

Wow !! Wow !! Wow !! frankly there... It's a huge scoop that you made see !!  :o :o :o :o
Because it is a 9/10 cover that was mounted on French sandcast series E-1014000 and E-1017000 in March and April 1970....

This could mean that they were already out of stock for the 9-hole clutch covers for the last Sandcast engine officially released from the production lines around November 1969... Is it possible ?
In my opinion it should not be the only one, on the latest engines in series E-1007000...
Because it seems to me that Kp had seen an identical clutch cover for sale on Ebay US...And I remember he had regretted not having bought it thinking it was a fake clutch cover ...

Bo and Gerard !  really great stuff you are sharing and thank you for the pictures !  so.  a question.  are there more than one version of this "10-1 hole" cover"  ?  one type is like you have pictured, the cover designed for a 10th hole, but hole not drilled.  are other covers drilled with a plug in the 10th hole ?

Steve, No... they are not pierced on the tenth hole, they took the clutch cover 10 holes of Diecast production by changing the setting program of the machine tools to do only 9 holes...

This is clearly visible in the photos and there is no plug on the tenth hole because it was not pierced...

Hi Gerard,

in your cover, i am not asking if 10th hole has plug.  (it has no plug.)

i am asking if there is another type of cover.  a cover where 10th hole has plug.

Steve sorry, But I do not understand what the translator translates me,  He is not very cool with me... ;D

I changed translator ...
Think the clutch cover with a plug that we see a few times on Ebay or elsewhere have not been made by Honda... These are fake...
In the photo, we see that this cover is not a K0 Diecast early but rather a K2 see even late K3, so it's a fake...

I don't know if this question has been asked but does anyone know why they went from 9 to 10 holes?  Was there a design flaw that Honda was trying to correct?  Interesting stuff.

It seems to me that it was a cause of oozing oil... ???

Hi!
Tomorrow when I am back at garage I will post a picture of backside.
About the plugged 10:th hole I am pretty sure Honda has delivered them while the guy I bought #5119/5065 back in 2007 had one brand new in a Honda plasticbag. Maybee Honda produced 10-holes and mounted a plug as spareparts for aftermarket. Just a thought, if I am wright or wrong is up to you.

Hello Bo, It would also take a picture of very close to the front and the back of the tenth hole that is not pierced to be sure that was not recharged with solder ... because I have a little doubt ...

Thanks, Gerard

Whilst we’re talking about 9 hole clutch cover, there were 2 versions. The first version did not have much gasket face area where they eventually placed the tenth hole. Honda in an attempt to fix the oil seepage problem brought out a second version which had a wider gasket face. These mustn’t have solved the problem as the resultant 10 hole cover never got additional mounting points. I believe Chris R posted about these 2 x 9 hole cover versions some years back. Some time in the future I’ll post photos of these 2 covers if it’s not posted sooner.
As for the 10 - 1 cover, (bless you Mr Swan), Gerard has convinced me that the non-machine hole cover is the Honda one and the others are ring’ins

Hello Kp, what does it mean : the others are ring'ins?
