Dear friends,

do you remember my doubts about the coloured blue point printed on the cases of Mick's bike (vin 1002987)? and on the other vin 1003240?

Now appears on ebay (#260538134916)a couple of crankcases with red point printed on the top case, near the sandcasting date, as the blue.

Appears too easy to think that this was, on the line production, the destiny of each engine for the matching colour bike.

Those point appears on the engines over 10023**.

They was the mark of a different casting productor or different line production?

My doubts remains!

What do You think about?

Please, go to to see your bikes, if they've not the repainted crankases.

Regards

Riccardo

Mine case was painted black and I do not see a dot on mine. I don't know if it was removed when it was painted (which I will be removing with walnut shells). From this, I found the day my motor was made which was on 7/23/1969. I thought that was cool to know.

This confirms my suspicion......I have always wondered " How did they know how to put the fastest motors into the blue bikes"
Well I guess this nails it down.

I can sleep at night again.
