Nice to see but now another decision for me. My rear fender is in nice shape but someone drilled to holes around the bottom for a mudguard. So, do I weld mine up, hammer it into shape and re-chrome or just buy the reproduction? Just loving this sandcast game!  ;D

All of my fenders have required some hammering back into shape.  

For a number of reasons, unless unsound or "reasonably impossible," i always at least attempt to reclaim the parts i believe original for re-use on my restorations.

I doubt even a factory replacement fender would be identical to a fender that came off our bikes.  Some small detail would have to be "not quite right."

 ??? sorry to be a bit off topic ,but after looking at yamiya's web page i saw what he listed as  s narrow steering handle bars ,what is the importance of these, i bought a set off fleabay years ago and throw them somewhere as they looked the wrong shape,is it worth me digging around and looking for them,if they for a particular model  :-\

I agree with Steve. These items are not hard to find and are easy to repair if they are half decent. Wayne, I've had holes welded up and if yours aren't too bad I would opt for that option myself. Again, Im anal and try and keep what was delivered with the bike. Sometimes it may cost a little more but you at least gave peace of mind that it's original KP

+1 on what KP said.  For my last project I had a double cut front fender that had a gouge on the front end which required a little weld and some straightening overall.  Repairs and chrome came to $250.  It would take a pretty bad fender to even come close to the cost of a new one and like the guys say, you get to keep the original part.

I agree with all, i only replaced the front fender on the 737 because the original was full of pittings, trought.
The job chrome was not like my standards.
Good at 2 meter of distance......not near the bike.
I replaced only the fender but used the 2 original "u" stays.
