 Recently I removed some original appearing parts to replace with correct ones and prep for new Candy Blue Green paint. In the meantime I added the trim from my dragbike project for testing purposes. I recently found a proper K0 engine case and head and am looking for a cylinder.
 This Fibermold tank was striped by the Englishman at Laconia. I sealed it in case it gets alcohol in it.

 I drove 1300 round trip miles to purchase an early 1970 engine with no center front head bolt. It's a replacement diecast case, it has the recall punches but no serial numbers. The rockers have the early single notch on the rocker shafts rather than the wasp waisted notch seen later.  The oil jets don't remove and the vertical pins in the fins protrude through the bottom fin like a later K0 or K1 motor. The head's cooling fins fins are brittle not bendable like a sandcast head. there is one broken. It has the heavy flywheel too.
 This gives me enough parts to rebuild a correct K0 motor for my 14,100 frame. It has a fairly hot, ported and cammed K4 836 in it now, I'm conflicted about taking it out. lol.
 The original tank, repop sidecovers and related trim are ready for paint, now I need to sell something to pay for it.

 I also picked up a rough but repairable single cut fender and a set of K1 gauges, they had chrome covers, I was hoping to find K0 gauges in there. Fooey.

 The 70's tins are all off to paint, for candy blue green. I got a K0 speedometer here and a tach over at sohc4 and rebuilt the case. I'm hoping to hear from my paint guy soon. This one has a repro K0 seat now, it looks better than the k1 seat but sits pretty firm. I'll keep the lester mags, but always on the watch for some proper rims to go with my early hubs.  I sold my no number pipes back to David Silver on a K1 L0L!

 The paint finally got done, the body shop had lost my totes in a new shop building project. I ordered a box or Yamiya stuff and it came this week.
  On disassembly I found the top triple broken (I had recently bought a spare) The D washers were a little thin .086 they should be .090. I soda blasted it, acid neutralized it and painted it with VHT chassis and roll bar paint. It's a sweet satin black. I baked it. The headlight's back on after re-connecting the wires, fork ears and new bucket on, the brake is gravity bled but not pumped up. I left the old halogen light assembled but off the bike and put on a new old Stanley sealed beam in a new ring.
 I'm checking the float valves and petcock before putting on the freshly painted air box. New stock velocity stacks, same old clamps.
 
  The DSS ducktail seat is a bit too firm. I may still put a red foam in it. I put on a chrome sprocket guard, cleaned the excessive brake lube out of the drum sanded it and put on new segmented shoes.  The same Lester mags and Avon tires that are getting old and show no wear.
  My next big project is to rebuild the previously mentioned unstamped 70 engine. I got the fin welded, it needs a thread or two repaired. I have to remember this is my modified bike and I need to mess with it so I'll leave the sandcast alone.

 The diecast with it's big brother. Only took 9 years but the Sandcast got in the way.

 Thanks, I find myself wanting to make it more and more stock, I'd like to find proper wire wheels and put these Lester mags and all of my performance parts on a K2 with no frame numbers and a k1 motor.
  I have a front axle and correct speedo drive parts but no K0 front hub anywhere. I do have a 2 hole rear hub and a couple nice but not rolled rear rims, a single cut fender until a double comes along.  I also still have a blank number pad replacement case with sandcast internals and a correct era head and cylinder so I can build a proper if not original motor.
