Motorcycle's For Sale / VIN# 374 for sale on eBay
« on: March 10, 2015, 09:29:33 am »
Hurts like hell, but I'm retiring and need to cut expenses & increase my income, so I'm putting my Sandcast #374 (engine #379) up for sale on eBay this Thursday. It's pretty darned flawless as the pictures will show, and has all the early goodies: horn on right, notched frame, un-numbered pipes, Koito headlamp, etc. Won trophies at a bunch of bike shows: Barber, Ride Into History, Santa Fe Concorso, Lake Mirror Classic...

This is a rider, not a trailer queen, maintained by the best Honda mechanics on earth - run like a dream (forgive the Honda pun!). Only a few non-stock maintenance items like tires, batteries, etc. Here's a couple of pics to whet your whistles. Don't ask how much - we'll see what it's worth on eBay!

I'll miss this great forum - has been an inspiration & great help to keep this baby so perfect for the 30 years I've owned it.

Parts For Sale / Exhaust pipes for sale
« on: November 30, 2013, 10:18:17 am »
I bought a set of Yamiya exhausts for my Sandcast this summer, VIN # 374. They are perfect, except a little tough aligning the 2 right-hand pipes... Now I'm looking for a 750 club member interested in the original pipes I took off the bike:

• Two outer ones are un-numbered, VERY original (I've owned the bike for 30 years), no numbers, no dents, no scratches. Breaks my heart to sell them but they're only gonna rust in my garage now.

• Two inner ones are HM300 - some damned Honda dealer talked me into replacing the rusted originals about 25 years ago when I had no idea how rare they were. They are also in excellent condition.

If no one's interested, I'll throw them on eBay but I'd sure rather sell them to a Sandcast club member so they do someone some good.

I think the un-nembered one's would go for about $1K, but I'm open to offers; email me and I'll send you pics:

General Discussion / Non-Ethanol Gas
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:48:47 am »
Been struggling to find gas stations that have good old-fashioned plain old gasoline, without any Ethanol. I fear my old CB's carbs don't take well to this farm gunk... And that's before we are forced to go to 85% Ethanol!

I've tried Sta-Bil and Star-Tron, but fear they're mainly marketing hype, with little chemical content. At least I can't find any scientific studies that show they work, like Dynamoter tests or carb/engine tear-downs. I pour them in just to feel good, but fear I'm getting snookered.

So here's a fabulous web site that lists that lists gas stations BY STATE that sell non-Ethanol gas, mainly for boats, farm tractors, etc. I just filled up my 79 CBX yesterday at one here in Winter Haven, Florida, and will report if it has any effect. It said 90 octane on the pump, and was a bit steep at $3.85 a gallon, but anything to keep my old bikes running right!

Please report if anyone has FACTS about this controversy, not just ads or feel-good hype.

Parts Q&A's and Feedback. / Original-looking tires
« on: May 11, 2010, 08:00:54 am »
Need a set of tires for my Sandcast, VIN #378. Hate to put modern-looking tires on it. Anyone find tires any that look like the originals: ribbed front and flat back?

Thanks!
