Title: Rear brake drum finish
Post by: Sgt.Pinback on November 16, 2015, 11:31:01 am
Hi,

what is the correct finish of the outside of the rear brake drum. Is it dull or shiny (polished)?

Whar would you suggest to get the correct finish?

Thanks

I would say slightly more brilliant than the satin, but especially not brushed because for me nothing has ever brushed originally for the finishing of aluminum on a Sandcast...
It is difficult to give a particular method because everything depends on the hand that makes...
But me I sanded with fine sandpaper with water to remove defects and scratches and after a paste a polishing without over-emphasize the brilliant...

It is necessary to adapt the number of paper over the state of the surface to restore...
Plus it is damaged and need to descend to the level of grain
<---120---240--->1000
If they are small scratches to be taken from 600 and after 800 or 1000 (it is the number of grain per cm2)
And after... I use (and you will be happy) to the German product Monidur!!
