Title: air filter K&N vs Aftermarket
Post by: jphprec on January 22, 2012, 04:47:05 pm
after buying you basic aftermarket paper mesh air filter on e-bay only to find that's its to high to fit into my stock airbox, leaving around a 1/4" gap, so much so that the bolts won't even start. i measured the height and came up with 2.975 so i ordered the K&N which stated that it was 2.750 high a difference of .225 so i received it yesterday and it fits fine with just a slight gap, so bottom line any filter higher than 2.750 will not fit into a 69-70 airbox....i also turned up 2 stand offs and tapped them for 6mm and installed them onto the  airbox bolts now i can fully tighten up the bolts without putting unwanted pressure on the plastic...jim
