« on: June 11, 2016, 01:23:31 pm »
Hi,
I am looking for one (1) - 28 mm carburetor cap to complete a set for my Sandcast. Can anyone help? I will pay asking price.
Many thanks,
Duane

Very interesting early Diecast engine. Really a 1969, but.is candy gold, lots on parts are not correct for this early 750, but the engine number really intrigues me, since it is so close to last Sandcast.

OK, everyone will laugh at the simplicity of this question,  ;D but could Honda have decided the color of the Sancast by a simple even or odd frame or engine number, or some combination there in?
I have an abundance of candy blue green bikes and only one candy ruby red Sandcast, when I compare my frame vin number all the frames with odd numbers are candy blue green and the even number one is candy ruby red.
I know this theory will not hold for long, so did anyone ever figure out how the factory decided the paint color, I know it was not random (guessing), so what are the theories on how body set colors were decided?
Best,

Fuel (gas - petrol) Tanks, Side Covers and Air Box / Another Scam
« on: August 16, 2015, 06:43:27 am »
Sure looks like someone tried to pounded wrinkles in this tank to make it look like a wrinkle tank, as this is newer style tank. People never cease to amaze me. This is not the real deal in IMHO.

Brakes / Top Brake Line Photo
« on: June 24, 2015, 06:52:43 pm »
Does anyone have a photo of their original top front brake line with markings. I am so surprised to find clearly readable markings with manufacturer details and like new master cylinder with no leveling line inside. Top line is long neck and bottom is short neck.
If I am reading the top line correctly it reads 1-8-69, so when were the short lines manufactured?

Scammers and Forgeries / Another Scam

Beware....This guy just won't stop.....now trying to sell late model brake caliper as Sandcast original. Same seller that had the re-stamped three digit frame.

Frame and Chassis Related Elements / Grease Fitting on Steering Head
« on: February 22, 2015, 05:46:10 pm »
I was in the shop today looking at different Sandcast frames and noticed that the frame on VIN 1577 has a grease zert (fitting) on the lower right side of the steering head below the Honda label. The frame does not appear to be modified. This frame has not been repainted and still displays the rough unfinished stamped factory VIN frame numbers.
So my question, my earliest frame is 1138 and it does not have the grease fitting, nor do the other three frames that I own, is this another Sandcast factory difference? Do other frames in this range have this fitting?
Mark B. - I know you have frame VIN 1553, does it have this same fitting?
I have attached a picture for reference.

Fuel (gas - petrol) Tanks, Side Covers and Air Box / Gas Latch Pins
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:07:47 pm »
Question, where is everyone sourcing the pins for your gas cap latch?
Do you use a special punch for peening the replacement pin's end to match the factory? I have not be able to find a good source for the original pins.

I have seen pins with snap lock end, but don't want to go that route for my tank's replacement latch.
Let me know what is the best route for replacement.

Thanks much,
Duane

I have rebuilt two sets of Sandcast carburetors, and about two years after the rebuilds the carbs have both started to leak fuel when parked after a ride. I always shut my fuel petcock off when parked, but do not drain the fuel systems during Winter months.

Am I setting the floats levels wrong or this problem resulting from the gasoline (petrol) quality with high ethanol contents in today's fuel?

Is this something other members experience?

Please let me know your opinions.

Thanks,
Duane
