Title: Grease Fitting on Steering Head
Post by: DW69K0 on February 22, 2015, 05:46:10 pm
I was in the shop today looking at different Sandcast frames and noticed that the frame on VIN 1577 has a grease zert (fitting) on the lower right side of the steering head below the Honda label. The frame does not appear to be modified. This frame has not been repainted and still displays the rough unfinished stamped factory VIN frame numbers.
So my question, my earliest frame is 1138 and it does not have the grease fitting, nor do the other three frames that I own, is this another Sandcast factory difference? Do other frames in this range have this fitting?
Mark B. - I know you have frame VIN 1553, does it have this same fitting?
I have attached a picture for reference.

Cleaned up the pic and rotated it for you. I got a crick in my neck looking at it. ;)

Got it, I didn't think the grease fitting belonged, but it looks like it has the same patina as the rest of the frame, so I started to question if it might be another difference in this frame series.

Wayne, you do a wonderful job!

Thanks,
DW

Duane it looks like you have your answer but I can also confirm that 1553 does not have it.
