General Discussion / Re: 8# bolts

I bought a set and they are beautiful.  They are matched very well to the original bolts, and have different shaped 8's on different bolts like the originals.  I was impressed.

I guess that chain damage didn't make much difference!

Yes and he is asking $10k as a buy it now for the cases only !!!!!!!! Ouch !!!!!!!!

It's back with a 99 cent starting bid!

I'm watching...but how much does the chain damage repair really detract from the value?  10%? 20%? More??

I believe this is the bike that was talked about on the SOHC4 site that was originally listed on Craiglist for $2000.  It wasn't there long.  Either the seller learned what he had or someone's flipping it for a nice profit!

It is.  That fairing is unmistakable.  I should have saved the listing..it stated the town in which it was the second CB750 sold from that dealership.

Don,

I think they were on most K0's, so there were a lot of them.  I think a good one is worth $50-100???

Did someone here get the frame and cases?

Those cases were going to need a whole lot of welding to fix up all those cracks!

Engine Mechanical / Re: Name That Cylinder: K0? Late K0? Early K1......?
« on: December 07, 2013, 12:16:52 pm »
Thank you so much.
I assume the older one was the original cylinder from my bike.

You mentioned "diecast". Does this mean K0 diecast or just any diecast K0-K6 ... ?

I think everything after the sandcast molds changed were all the same, so K0 diecast-K6.  There may be very slight differences, but I'm not sure, and the value would likely be the same as any later set of cylinders up to K6.  The sandcast ones are valuable.

Cheers!
Gregg

The top cylinder is older, and would be correct for sandcast and early K0 motors.  There is no boss for the head bolt in front of the cam chain tunnel that came on later engines.  The older set is sandcast, and the other is diecast.  You can see the three hexagonal diecast tooling marks on the under side of the later cylinders.

The pump from 371 has the 8 bolts, tapered plug, and the number stamped appears to be 719
