Title: Pre-luber idea
Post by: Don R on January 24, 2014, 04:08:39 pm
A 750 that has sat for a while can easily be pre-lubed by using an automotive A.C. oil tank. A few pipe fittings on the AC hose and a guage adapter for the right end of the oil gallery will connect the tank to the oil galley. Apply a little compressed air to the oil filled tank. After a few seconds the oil pressure light will go out and the engine can safely be rotated 1/4 turn at a time while oiling it to assure all the parts get oiled. I like to do it and let it sit for a while and again just before it you start it. Of course drain any excess out of the sump if you think you over did it a little.
I have done it and it works fine. I've seen guys on TV warm a really old engine with by putting a hot plate under it too. I havent done that yet.
