Sam

Sorry for taking so long to respond.  Please change the VIN list to show my 2659/E2839 and John Babos as the owner.  I don’t know the casting date yet.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

John B

If you haven’t already posted pics, please do so.  We like looking at candy.

Someone on the SOHC4 forum also commented on the bike’s value, saying VIN 9060 sold in November for < $7k.

Just listed on eBay

Seller says it is a K0, frame number confirms (?) it is not a Sandy.

Sam,  Your suggestion sounds simple enough, but I’m reluctant because it would be going into the complete unknown for me. I sent an Em to Blake, but have not heard back yet.  To confirm, can you PM his Em?

Gerard, I sent an Em to the painter but have not heard back yet.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback.

So carburetors still controlled by four cables but NOT found on any correct Sandcast?  After a quick look (tank installed) at my carbs, I did not see a model (7A for example) onto the carburetor flat next to the mounting plate.  What is the correct model number(s) for correct carbs?

A another even more worrying detail...
These very late carburetor bodies from the end of K0 and beginning of K1?
Is this possible on such a machine?

I have the same casting marks on restored 2659/E2839.  Looking at the 92 Distinctions list, there was no mention of this difference.  I don't doubt your expertise.  I would like to know where the discussion of this feature can be found?

Attached pic shows one area of a recently painted SC airbox.  The work was done by Blake Conway and I think it looks good.  Problem is it has been stored in bubble wrap, which has left a "bubble print".  I tried a little Plexus and a microfiber cloth with no results.

The print seems to be raised to the touch, so it may be a very thin layer of plastic.  Question is how to remove.  Heat gun?  All suggestions/comments welcome.

I think there is an ongoing effort to update the VIN directory with current and/or correct information.  I just checked it and 2659/E2839 is still showing the previous owner.  Being the current and correct owner, I was wondering who would be handling the updates?
