Thanks Sam..... there will be a Yamiya order at one point. I’ll send you a request for the correct O.D. then.
John D.

I believe this is where I got mine. It was nicely done. He’s probably sold out but who knows.

How do you know about the engine number? I dont see any pics or reference to the engine number.

Thick lip alternator cover that appears over-polished to me. I also see a reference to powdercoated parts. Uh oh!

Here’s a listing from 2020 Sam.

I'm seeing a 3 not an 8. Anyone else

Looks like 3 to me as well.

Arnold. What a great find! It’ll be a bit of a tough road to find some of the things you need, but they’re out there somewhere. Would you consider documenting your project here on a dedicated thread such as Mark did for 97/100? It’s a bit of extra work for you however I’m sure the community would greatly appreciate seeing every detail of  this restoration.

First off, welcome to the group. That is one beautiful machine. I echo what Sam and KP have already stated. You have a LOT of early and very sought after parts on your bike. Don’t toss anything. I know sometimes a new shiny part seems like the better option but at the end of the day it’s not, especially for an early machine such as yours. I only wish it were tucked in my garage. If you use FB you can follow us there as well. For some it seems to be the preferred platform.

General Discussion / Re: 88 Model Distinctions Section Amendments
« on: September 12, 2021, 11:22:21 am »
This is great. I think we need a better way to talk about the model distinctions. With photos and descriptions for each entry.

Sam
That's exactly what I was working on in the files I passed on to you. I had uploaded my progress under a folder on the server "new" but all the files pages have HTML tags of "do not index" - do not crawl so they can't be searched.  I did that so members could review with me before putting the pages "live". I'll send you the URL.

KP I think that’s a great idea! If you remember I did start a thread where we vetted ViN’s before adding them to the directory. I had ideas of taking that further and having a link from the directory to the VIN images and perhaps even the bike itself. This is the thread im talking about.

Also, I found this while browsing around.

Didn’t get much feedback so I went ahead and created the group. Feel free to sign up! Sam, perhaps you could add a “follow us on Facebook” button and link on the index page of the web site?

Yes Arnold. I’m aware of that group. Like I said THIS site contains some of the most comprehensive sandcast KO information out there. We’ve been around a long time. I think I took the reigns over from Steve Swan in 2010. I think it’s just time to branch out and utilize another platform to augment what we built here.

General Discussion / SOOC Official Facebook Group?
« on: August 28, 2021, 01:00:39 pm »
Do you think we need a SOOC official Facebook group? I think this site and BB are way under-utilized and they contain some of the best sandcast KO information on the internet. I passed a lot of information off to Sam and believe me, I know how daunting the task is to put it into some semblance of order for both the novice and experts amongst us.

I know in my line of work our business had to evolve as other platforms came on the scene. Most these days use web sites, Twitter, Facebook, the list goes on. I just hate seeing the group die a slow death simply because we’re not willing to take a shot at augmenting the brand through a different platform. Thoughts?

Links to Auctions and Classifieds / Frame 2848 For Sale
« on: August 22, 2021, 01:10:49 pm »
This is not my frame or ad so please contact the number provided if interested.

Frame vin no 2848 . Mint condition minus one tab missing on left sidecover . Comes with seat latch .

***WARNING TO MEMBERS***
Be very cautious if you see this frame number advertised for sale anywhere.  It’s a good frame however the seller ghosted Chris Rushton and myself after I went and personally viewed the frame for Chris and told him that I would be doing the financial transaction for the full amount agreed upon if Chris decided to buy the frame. This seller has multiple Ads across Ontario with different addresses, including an Ad where he displays Vic’s CR750. My sense is he’s fishing for deposits.

Nice. John and his late brother Dave did these custom Dyna tins for me. They turned out amazing.

Check with John at Connery Custom Paint in Scarborough. I’m pretty sure he told me he has a guy that will do tanks. Not all will.
