Thanks KP. From his email, it might have been published with a date of 8-69. I am still waiting for more info from him before I send him an answer. In any case, it will prolly get to ebay, because I aint paying $100.

Published Material / Sandcast Factory Manuals, Literature?
« on: February 21, 2010, 04:26:13 pm »
Is there a list or some sort of documentation of sandcast factory manuals, brochures, updates etc?

An associate of mine just found a shop manual.
His words:
" printed in Japan '69. The first page shows where the serial numbers are found with pictures of the frame and motor numbers.
Fr# CB750-1000002 and Eng# CB750E-1000004. "

I asked him for more description/pics and am waiting on a response. This got me thinking on what was printed.

Also, any guesstimates what he has would be worth in "decent shape with less then normal wear"???

Front End and Suspension / Top Trees
« on: February 19, 2010, 07:59:54 pm »
Hey guys. I have heard that there were some changes to the top trees during (and after) the sandcast run. Is this true?
I have seen PICTURES of K1 and some K2's with the same looking top tree that is on my sandcast. My '70 (frame 1037538)looks the same as my sandcast(frame 1003225).
So, is it correct to use the 70,71 and some 72's top tree?
Were some of these top trees cast differently?
Thanks - Phil in Houston.

VIN's / Re: ?sandcast? CB750E-1014143

Wow, thats a nasty looking casting. Wonder how that came to be? Maybe they had some early non-stamped casings that were rejects and sent them out in the course of production?
So, the rumor was just concerning France?
Or, do we have to look for others outside of the 7414 range in North America?

General Discussion / Re: Are Sandcast Motors Faster?
« on: February 18, 2010, 08:30:29 pm »
I don't think that stock Sandy's were faster than other 69-70 CB750's. I can attest to front sprocket changes having a big affect on how the motor feels.

I think all of the previously mentioned items are valid for a comparison to late K1's and up. I have read recently on SOHC4 forum that the spark advancer unit had different specs than later bikes that helped preformance on the 69-70's.

I also think that while the cam specs were the same, the cam degreeing was different - maybe even on the Sandy's as opposed to later 69-70 diecasts.

Long time since I posted here - last post was a question and so is this one. And so will be the next couple!

What methods of removing and reinstalling the gas tank emblems w/o wrecking/marring the emblem or the tank have worked best for y'all?

How about if there is a broken tab? Some sort of 2 sided tape?
