I just saw that - holy crap!  I believe its an unrestored original.  The last sandcast anything like this sold on Ebay for over 40K.

I think he is saying its stored, not restored.  He didn't list the engine number (unless I missed it) so I asked him for that.  This is a later model so I'm guessing it won't go for 40K.  Low 30's maybe?  The wiring looks a little funny by the battery and the tool tray bottom looks like it was pitted and repainted.  Just my observations.

The seller told me the bike was put together using "all nos oem" parts.  I agree w/ Mark, there are some things on that bike that don't quite look right.  Obviously the exhaust are not correct and the seat coutour looks odd.

I too looked at the bike most of the parts are probably oem. The seat looks to have been recovered with one of the earlier reproduction covers and a seat pivot pin is missing. I think the extra wiring in the battery area is for a trickle charging system. I too noticed they did not list the engine number or list any pictures of areas allowing anyone to identify the cases. I will admit the bike is very nice and is a very clean restoration. Was anyone able to get the engine number? Marty K.

The shocks look brand new and have the correct number of coils showing.  Are these shocks obtainable any longer??

I think the parts of the frame you can see look original and not re-finished ??

The front master cylinder looks original and new, another part that is very difficult to restore to look new with the original looking anodized finish.

Just some observations, I will gladly stand corrected if I am off on any of this, there are way more experts on this stuff than me on this board and I would love to hear from them because we all learn something that way.

I agree with Steve.
I've also contacted the owner but he replyed me with this incomplete engine number:100418....?
Some points under your eyes:
seat cover;
exhaust sistem;
front brake disk, not completely black painted in the rivets zone;
fuel tank mole, lete repro type used also by us;
head cover engine gasket;
tires;
front and rear hub polished;
carbs sandblasted, they have lost the luminescent patina of the alloy,
upper oil line brake marked 1976;
new gauges, but appears with difficult by photos that they have the sandy drive gear;
new master cilynder and handle electric knob.
Surely i can wrong, but i'm thinking at a GREAT JOB of Vic World.
Stored, Restored by the Owner or by V.W., sincerely, this is a very nice bike and i hope the owner will do a lot of money, well for him and for us.
The new owner is welcome.

The seat is a Yamiya and is the red sponge type. KP

Well it's a beautiful restoration...

I can see where the wheel hubs are nicer than OEM...and some of the other stuff you guys mentioned.  I guess if some of this stuff was original, there would have to be more yellowing of the clear coat and more patina, even if it was inside for 40 years.

Then what he means by stored, is restored and stored.  Should be advertised as a ground up restoration in that case.

I would still like to know where one can get the shocks and front master unless you are VW and have them in your parts collection already.

Hi KP,

the sponge of the seat is probably Yamiya, the pan and the skin no, at my advice.
Yamiya builts the complete seat or sale separately, but builts the early pan with few holes and 6mm treathed, moreover the skin yamiya is very made in pregiate materials, different respect this seat cover, the Yamiya look is very close to the original seat skin.

Did you see the plastic washers on both sides of the gas cap hinge pin. Not original cap.

I am thinking with all of this apparent restoration work that appears to be done, that possibly the odometer could have been re-set back to zero and 600+ miles put on it.  Only this can be confirmed by the seller.

I still think the seat is Yamiya. Base is probably the original. Maybe the cover is the original but doubt it. Hard to say but I accept the finish on the outside is not great. If anyone gets some answers from him we will know. The bike has been well restored though KP

Dear angelodarcangelo,

Is this bike a Vic World production bike? If so, what year did you buy it from World Motorcycles?
Regards,

600 miles on a 2007 Vic is probably about normal.

Given that answer we can accept the quality is as we thought; superb No doubts about the seat either. The bike will be good buying for the high bidder KP

I agree of course that the quality will be top notch but after thinking about it, he does say in the add "All original" when he should be saying "completely restored".  Just for fun, based on everyone's observations I'm going to change my prediction on the selling price to $26,000 to $28,000.  Anyone else venture a guess.

I think it's worth all of that Mark. The reality is if you want to spend just under 30K you can get a fresh VW bike. From what I have seen in my short life in in sandcast world, the bikes that have gone beyond that price were for the most part un-restored. For example Vic's 445?? mile bike at $41,900.00?? Keeps me hoping that there is one more jewel to be found in my neck of the woods!  ;)

You might be right but technically it is a used VW.  Seems that I remember another later VIN VW go for about $28,000 within the last year (not from Vic).  A good condition, unrestored, early VIN will definately command more money.  It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I've emailed 2 times more the seller:
he replyed me:

1) 1004018, Yes it is a Sandcast;
2)Original bike. Not a restoration.The bike came from a collector.

Sincerely i think that's a great bike.
And if is a VW restoration, this is a very big reference for the new owner.
Vic use in the restoration only original NOS parts.
Ok, no lotus root or no no. or other maniacal parts.......but original parts.
None has the stock as Vic!!!!!

I've 3 sandcast and 1 KO, the garage is full anf for me is impossible to buy another byke from USA.
My wishes at future owner of this bike.

 If you look at the pic of the right veiw of the rear wheel you will notice that there is HM300 on the top right pipe just in front of the heat shield and the bike comes with a service manual, owners manual and touch up paint.

This is a restored bike. Restoration by Vic World. Sold by Vic World in 2007. There are several items on the bike that are not original sandcast such as the gas cap, the front brake hose and the exhaust pipe. Why would you replace one exhaust, maybe it was damaged in a drop. There is no way this bike is 41 years old and unrestored. It has no age to the plastic coatings on the levers. With a few part changes these items could be corrected.  ;D Also the reserve has been lowered on the auction for anyone who wants to bid on it. Still a very nice bike with a great restoration done to it. Oh, by the way, I don't see a blue or red dot on the engine cases. Maybe Vic could add that finishing touch to his future restorations. ::)

Merry Christmas to All!!!!!!!

Sold for $25.101. When we see what other classic bikes cost theese days it still seems that sandcasts are very attractive.
Good luck for the new owner. I think he has got a very nice bike.

Earlier VIN, original vs. restored, different time of year, all things that I think would have increased the price.  Still not a bad price but I'm guessing he probably payed closer to $30,000.  At least he got to own a VW for a while.  Buyer should be happy.  A member here maybe?

Has to be a scam.  Different seller with zero feedback.  Same thing happened on the VW $41,000 original.  I'll bet it gets pulled in the next day.
