Title: MAP - MAPP Gas
Post by: kp on February 17, 2010, 11:34:16 am
How hot does MAP (MAPP) gas get? I have learned to solder silver, copper, and brass using silver solder with acytelyne. I would like to purchase some aluminum solder and flux so I can practice soldering and repairing broken parts for my bike.

I don't want to go through the expense of an acetylene set up at home if one of those two tank MAP and Oygen kits from the hardware store will get just as hot.

I figure I will need between 900 and 1100 degrees F possibly more to melt the solder. "Dont quote me on the temps..... I will be re-checking them before I get to work"
