New Member Introductions / Re: New Member In Tucson AZ
« on: November 29, 2017, 12:53:08 am »
I live in Scottsdale, there are two Sandcast I know of here  in the Valley, mine and one owned by a guy named Bob H.  There is one in Prescott owned by Matt M.  Several years ago I had a sandcast motor I bought from an old man in Phoenix.  When I first saw your post i started to panic since i sold the motor to a man in California, i thought i may have ruined a reunion. I thought I had your motor.  I went back and looked at some old Vin number pictures and realized it probably wasn't the motor, it was vin 6661. Any way good luck, let me know if I can help in any way. Jack

I know the blue green for sale on eBay, it is legit.  Seller is a well know motorcycle collector.

There is member of this forum who I know that lives in the Dakotas, he has over 650 restored vintage Japanese bikes.  I think he has 4 Sandcasts, and several dozen CB 750 s.  he plans to open a museum soon, sit tight, the collection is beyond description !

JT is a good guy, I have bought many parts from him for different Hondas I have.  He is easy to work with and goes out of his way when a problem occurs to fix it.  He charges a lot, but he has the good stuff, if you don't like his prices you can keep looking I guess.

General Discussion / Re: VIN and Engine Number Spread
« on: April 28, 2016, 01:03:33 am »
You guys are evaluating the situation based on the assumption that all the engines and frames were numbered consecutively.  If they were batch manufacturing they may have had milestone goals.  The first period, days or a month for example the goal was 200 bikes.  If the frame manufacturing group hit the goal they built 200 frames numbered from 100 to 300.  The next batch of frames was slated to start at 301 and run to 501.  Mean while the engine manufacturing line only completed engine 100 to 275 as an example.  When the next batch production started they began with vin 300 but it went into frame 276 that was waiting for an engine.

Maybe the frame and engine numbers. started with vin numbers matched to the start date of the batch regardless of where they finished the last batch ???

Thanks for getting me in there.  I am sympathetic to your situation.  I am a long running volunteer with the VJMC, people just dont understand, no pay for the work, full time job, raising child, etc, etc, etc.  Keep up the good work.

I reused my original cover with new Yamiya foam.  I got the foam and put the cover over the foam.  I used spring clips to hold the cover to the base for a week or so and kept pulling the cover tighter, eventually it took the shape pretty well.  I did have to sculpture a piece of foam on top to take up some slack in the cover.  Also I had a trim shop sew a piece of black vinyl strip around the inside of the lower piece that gets fastened to the base.  Mine had stretched out holes at the attachment points.  Now that it is together you can't obviously see the sewn in piece, unless I point it out. Came out very nice
