Title: Lotus Roots available again ???
Post by: Steve Swan on June 28, 2014, 09:19:36 am
The gentleman who recently purchased 248 asked me to post for him.  He has spoke to folks at Yamiya about another run of Lotus Roots which Yamiya is willing to do.

Please register your interest here.

Steve,
I will commit to one set for sure and possibly could buy another set dependent on the price as I am guessing the lotus root sets will cost around $2,900 with shipping.
Thanks,
Duane

Sounds like Yamiya is making a prod.run of their own and sets will be available for general purchase.   As of yet, unknown when and how many sets will be produced.    In the past, Yamiya has made about 25 sets a run.  Will keep you posted as i learn more details.  So, there is no need to commit.   When they are available, it will be first come, first serve.

For those who have purchased Lotus Roots or have originals, how do they perform and sound compared to no. no. or HM300's?

Other than getting them to match the VIN of the earlier sandcasts, are they worth paying the extra money to get them?

imho, if one wants correctness, must have.  with baffles LR's are very only slightly louder than no.no's.  some guys say they can't tell a difference.  LR's have no internal baffling, essentially a megaphone with no baffling and diffuser removed.  the diffuser is completely different than no.no.  the outside welded seam is 2 mm shorter.

Steve,
Are there any internal differences in the LR compared to the NO pipes? I purchased a set of used LR from Yamiya a few years ago and other than the weld seam height, it is very difficult to tell them apart physically with the baffles removed.
Thanks for any help.

the outside welded center seam is 2 mm shorter.  (no.no/hm300 seam 2 mm taller than LR)

LR's have no internal baffling, essentially a megaphone with no baffling and diffuser removed.  the diffuser is completely different than no.no.

no.no's have internal baffling.  no.no diffuser will not fit LR.

years ago, i posted many pics and measurements of an orignial set of lr's in contrast to no.no.  these pics are still in the website, you can find them.

I purchased these as "used" but they are brand new and have never been mounted or used. The inside of the Lotus Root muffler shows the biggest difference between the no number muffler.

Here is a picture of the internal configuration of the Lotus Root muffler, so maybe other can see the missing diffusers.
Best,

Too bad Yamiya sells them for so much more money if they are reproductions just like the no. no.'s are.  I have a mid productions sandcast, so it wouldn't make sense for me to purchase the LR.  If the sound and performance were that much greater then I would definitely consider.  Thank you, Steve for your input.
