Title: Checking Main Crank Bearings Using Plastigauge
Post by: Wayne on January 28, 2011, 03:37:09 pm
When plastigauging the crank main brg's is it necessary to install and torque all of the case bolts or will just installing the 10 larger bolts for the main webs suffice?

I'm getting close to doing this myself.  Everything I've read says just the 10 main bolts.

Thanks Mark. Would have had this done but one of the main brg shells I received looked like someone stepped on it! Should have a new one on Monday. I remember when brg's used to come in boxes as an upper and lower half in most cases. If the box was wrecked, you looked inside. Now it's all plastic packaging and people just don't really seem to care as much. That's my rant for the day!  ;D
