Title: Cover Picture
Post by: Wayne on April 28, 2011, 11:27:26 am
Does anyone have a NOS aluminum cover (trans cover is probably best as it has lots of smooth surface area) that they could take a high resolution picture of and send to me? I want to get an idea of the  pattern and reflective level of the covers before I begin to bring mine back to life. Thanks!

I polished my trans cover and I wasn't thrilled with the results. (should have listened to some folks here  ;)) I have polished a ton of aluminum over the years and have never seen anything quite like I am finding on 576. My trans cover had what looked like water streaks throughout the aluminum that were just not coming out. I clearcoated it anyway thinking I would just accept it as "character" for that part. The marks look like this on a cover I found at DSS. Are they just inheritant to these parts? I guess once I get pic's from riccardo and I have something to go on I'll have a better idea what direction to go in.

Those "streaks" are inherent of the covers.
