Title: Side panel mesh

I have seen restored photos ,unrestored photos, even genuine photos and the mesh various from black to silver.
Did the side panel mesh come in both colours from the factory ??

I have only ever seen black on 69 bikes. The early (non bar code) NOS covers I have, have black mesh but, a later NOS cover I have (with bar code parts tag) has silver. To my mind black is the correct color.

Ditto what KP said. 

Silver was used on Gold non-sandcast bikes.
