Title: battery earth cable
Post by: Sgt.Pinback on May 16, 2016, 08:44:52 am
On my KOīs the earth cable doesnīt have a mantle/shell like the new ones that can be found

(e.g. here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Honda-CB-750-Four-K0-K1-K2-Massekabel-Cable-battery-earth-/321711758761?hash=item4ae783dda9:g:-s8AAMXQwKdRbv8c (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Honda-CB-750-Four-K0-K1-K2-Massekabel-Cable-battery-earth-/321711758761?hash=item4ae783dda9:g:-s8AAMXQwKdRbv8c))

What is correct espec. for a sandcast?

Need a new one.

So buying a new one and taking off the sheaf will not get the correct result?

My understanding is well up the VIN range I believe all K0 bikes had the early braided style wire. I had a 3XXXX Vin bike many years ago, so long in fact I can't remember the VIN It was fitted with a braided type wire

Not the same The insulated wire is just plain 50 amp tinned wire. The early wire is a braided style which I have never seen with insulation. Yamaha sells this item but I understand it's not a cheap piece These do come up for sale if you keep watching eBay
Buy this and work with it

The 2 cables/straps in Steven V's photo are correct (see link above) The repop ones are not that close IMHO. I have both types but cannot with certainty say which is earlier. My early VIN sandcast has the round type

the early cables without sheaths are braided strands of wire, are thin and are flat.

the later cables with sheaths are round and the strands of wire are not braided.

Yes, all my KO have the braided cable, one with VIN 19.xxx.

I didīnt knew that the cable itself is different (not braided) on the later bikes.

Odd, when you look in the early KO parts list, cable seems to have the cover.

Can't use parts book as sole source, the sketches are depictions of parts, not necessarily what factory supplied to dealer.

And, i stand corrected on unsheathed cable types.  KP brought it to my attention 2 unbraided types.  1 flat, 1 round.  Sorry for any misunderstanding i may have created.

Bought this one.
They're all now sold. Our famous proxy bidder a***o bought the last of them. I wonder if people follow these Board conversations just to get the good oil. Funny how they weren't selling then the whole 4 go within 12 hours.
Good to see you got one
