Did anyone see the recent Mecum auction in Las Vegas? I didn't but I was told there was sandcast sold so I pulled up the auction results and it looks like one went for $28,000. There isn't much significant info about it other than it was from the Rose City Motorcycle Museum and that it was a low number VIN. Does anyone know anything about this bike and what the VIN is?

i heard vin under 500 and was not accurate restoration. i've not seen these types of auctions be kind to sandcasts.
Mark, did you read my post where i put the bsw gauge to a spoke and it would not fit ?

By not being kind I assume you mean low prices?

I did, thanks. I probably should have replied. I still might. ;)

I Think it was a 400 # range bike with a later front fender no rear turn signals the one a saw was a blue one I'm sure there where some more things but that's what jumped out at me

I was also at the Mecum Auction and took a bunch of pictures of this bike but somehow managed to delete them all except one. Nice early oil lines looked new. They were smooth ferules. I doubt if the bike ran. It certain would not have stopped well as the master cylinder was cracked from an impact. A poor restoration that didn't slow the bidding. K1 front fender and ribbed air box painted blue. Poor seat recover or cheap replacement. I did not lift the seat or look in the tank. A lot of the nuts and bolts were incorrect hardware store items. Engine looked OK with no-number Yamiya(?) pipes. I didn't commit much to memory as I took pictures:( If pressed I think it was E416.
