I think the pictures will tell the story.

KP,
Do you know the approxmate VIN where they went to the shorter choke lever?

Mark, that's a good question ! of which an answer appears not to be found anywhere i look in the website !

The lengths of the choke levers are addressed in #12 of the "Distinctions" thread.  But, change in the length of which we could suggest a vin where the shorter lever was first seen, is not present.

I do remember when i put that list together, I realized we did not have/know a 'vin break' where the lever went from long to short.  Seems i would have had discussion(s) with other members about such a significant detail, but i surely cannot recollect such a discussion, assuming i ever had one.......

Will be good to hear what fellow members report !

(Was surprised when i found brake line info in the carb section of "Prod.Models"....... ?!?  I loaded that info.  What was i thinking/drinking !?!)

When i purchased, on ebay, my #1000737, i was very happy to see the carbs with long choke lever.
The owner has confirmed me that those was the original carbs set.

VIN 957 & 969 both have long choke levers. I'm sure a recent bike on eBay with a VIN in the low teens had a long choke lever. My VIN 1683 didn't come with carbs so I don't know about bikes that far into the teens

VIN 1553 had short levers and the seller said they were the originals.  The carbs that I got with E1490 had the short levers but I would not guarantee that they came with that engine.  Hmmm.  Do the carbs go with the frame or the engine?

One could presume carbs go with the engine, since they're an engine related part.

I'm surmising Honda determined the longer arm was un-necessary or a problem for whatever reason(s) think of.

I'm not aware of any documentation by Honda of the change in length and rationale thereof.  If anyone knows, please share.

It's obvious the arm quit being used at some point in the vin sequence.  Discovering when and why is probably up to us.

I am guessing Wayne's 576 has a long lever......... ?
