Fenders (mudguards) and Seats / Re: Yamiya Seat Foam and cover
« on: January 20, 2021, 11:39:21 pm »
As far as I know, recently it was out of stock too.
I was told a small slice of red foam stuck through the seat pan looks authentic, I tried it on a late K0 seat that had red and yellow foam, it could work until you can get a red one. I replaced the red foam on my sandcast and put the original cover back on. Avon skin so soft bath oil has worked wonders on it.

Everything K0 / Re: reflector repro's?
« on: January 04, 2021, 03:13:11 pm »
Silly me, after floundering around and measuring finding late reflectors numbers substituted and no rubber bases available I searched the part number and my favorite parts guy JT Marks had them advertised as a set on ebay. No idea why my original search by description turned up nothing. It seems having a part number is the key.

Everything K0 / reflector repro's?
« on: January 04, 2021, 01:24:12 pm »
Has anyone found a source of Honda or even a good reproduction fork ear reflector and rubber for K0's?  I'm getting the feeling the threads are rusted inside my fork ears. Rather than break them,  I'd prefer to leave them in place and get new ones for the gold tin set.

Exhaust / Re: DSS no number pipes report
« on: December 25, 2020, 03:53:53 am »
I since bought a third set, put them on a k1 and promptly sold the bike and a k5 with a single no number pipe back  to David Silver. That was a couple years ago. I'm not seeing any 4-4's available right now except the Italian ones. (not reproductions)
I'm going through a late K0 now, bought a gold tin set here and hope to have all three colors to show off this spring. The thought crossed my mind to built a three bike trailer to get all three to a couple shows this coming year.

Exhaust / Re: Tube rubber muffler between silencers
« on: December 25, 2020, 03:46:43 am »
My thought was the little metal tubes were there to encourage me to align those exhaust nipples before tightening anything else. I've put on 3 sets and all went on well even when I had to adjust the pipe at the head with a rolled up towel and a rubber mallet.

The Blue Green bike was oct. 2019 bike of the month in the sohc4.net forum. Mag wheels and all. I was very proud.

General Discussion / Re: Protection against chain snap.
« on: December 01, 2020, 01:16:34 am »
It was probably an early model, the battery vent sometimes drained onto the chain. Later they added a metal plate in there but it didn't help a lot. I bought a pile of parts with an engine that had broken chain inside the transmission.  The end was hanging out of the round plug hole on the bottom.

I grew up in the era and somehow missed all of that.

General Discussion / Re: my most recent blunder. seat'
« on: December 01, 2020, 01:07:43 am »
I also bought a Z1 seat cover during this time, it wasn't a duck tail and was too short. I waited too long to return it so I passed it on to a guy doing a 500 Honda who said it fit great.

Everything K0 / Re: Found another one, late K0 project.

I just got a Vermont registration for it and have begun bolting on a few parts. I took it to the drag strip and used it for a pit bike all day, it ran awesome even with the pod filters.  Mark Paris suggested the color is an anti theft deterrent. L0L. I'm really wanting candy gold.

Everything K0 / Re: my 14,100 K0
« on: December 01, 2020, 12:44:29 am »
Thanks, I find myself wanting to make it more and more stock, I'd like to find proper wire wheels and put these Lester mags and all of my performance parts on a K2 with no frame numbers and a k1 motor.
I have a front axle and correct speedo drive parts but no K0 front hub anywhere. I do have a 2 hole rear hub and a couple nice but not rolled rear rims, a single cut fender until a double comes along.  I also still have a blank number pad replacement case with sandcast internals and a correct era head and cylinder so I can build a proper if not original motor.

Everything K0 / Re: 1969 Diecast/ K0 restoration
« on: December 01, 2020, 12:33:35 am »
I bought a pretty nice K0 that's mostly there, what it needed I have left from other bikes and saving things. Anyway the seat needed recovering and I checked here to refresh my memory. I've been saving a cover but when I rolled it over I found a crack almost all of the way across the pan. A guy on SOHC4 sold me a pretty nice seat from a "pan wanted" ad but I don't think I'll take it apart, it's pretty nice in the pics and my diecast has a cheaper repro seat on it.
So here I am still needing a seat pan. I'm hoping to snag a K1 seat with a good pan after payday. (Just bought a bunch of car parts) In the meantime I may try to tig the cracked pan and reinforce it from the top side.
I also notice there aren't any new 4-4 exhausts available. Not sure if they just sold out or the factories and shipping are shut down due to the pandemic.

Review of VIN'S For Directory / Re: Frame & Engine Number Spread
« on: July 15, 2020, 10:54:12 am »
My 5511 has a nearly 400 number spread, a friend bought a sandcast two frame numbers different from mine and his also has the same approx. spread.

I still have both bikes, The diecast in the link to the picture has a Yamiya exhaust now. I recently picked up an untitled 70 to either restore or swap parts from to put the blue green diecast back closer to original.  I know of a proper serial number engine for the diecast it's a little more than I want to spend, the seller started telling me about prototypes worth $160K and sandcasts etc.
