After a successful introduction of the K0 face plates I am proud to announce that the face plates are also available for the K1 and K2. Ya all have Sandcasts, but you possibly also own a younger CB750 or know someone who owns one. See pictures on my website: http://www.cb750faces.com/photos.php?view=thumbnailList&category=5

thank you all guys for your feedback.

And indeed, base color of the plastic plate is white and the edges can easily be colored with a black marker. I noticed it later and should had mentioned it. The holes are cutted out after printing, so it is not possible to color the inner edges automatically. And when I use a black base plate, the plates will not be translucent.

Be careful with the marker. If the ink comes on the front surface, you can see it. Stay within the lines.

WOW. It seems that we all own a goldmine with the CB750. I see all prices increasing last years for all early CB750's

I am impressed by your knowledge of details, Kerry.

If anyone wants this horn, please let me know what's worth it for you and I am sure we will agree (I do not need to get many bucks for it).

(did you already receive your face plates, Kerry? A countryman of yours received it this Monday)

In addition to the complete set of face plates for both speedo and tacho meter, I have listed only the tacho meter face plate as the speedo meter face plate for the K0 is sometimes in an acceptable condition and the red area of the tacho is often discolored. I have listed the tacho meter face plate against a more attractive price of $50, half the price of a complete set.

Click here for the Ebay listing

For members of the SOOC forum, I will also discount the shipping costs to $0 if you buy the face plate directly from me:

General Discussion / To restore or to refurbish?
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:24:38 pm »
Looking around in the oldtimer world, I see old bikes and cars who are or completely restored or refurbished or even left in the condition where they were found in.
Sometimes you need to restore and sometimes the condition is too good to restore. I decided to refurbish my K0 by painting the frame (parts), zincing the iron parts an changed the ripped and dried rubber parts. I left the original paint in it's old condition with some little scratches, I only have polished it.

What makes the oldtimer more worth? Should I repaint the red parts? Polish the aluminium or leave it how it is? And so on. The condition is great for it's age, but obviously not new.

Thanks guys.

The bike is in a great condition. The frame had only some rust on the surface. If it didn't had so much rust, I should have decided to leave it in its original paint, like the red parts.

It is a late K0 with VIN 1040080

Today I received an email with pics from the paintshop that the frame and frame parts are finished. They look so great! This painter is doing all the paintwork for my bikes. He isn't cheap, but I think that he is the very best motorbike painter in Holland. He is, like me, a perfectionist.
I asked him to do not paint too shiny as it must keep it's vintage look. Also all the welding pitting must remain. That belongs to the bike as the seat and the engine belongs to the bike.

I have to wait until Friday afternoon to pick up this parts. I hate waiting so long before I can see them with my own eyes.

I like to share the pics with you:

If it is only the yellow one and you can use a transparant paint, it's much cheaper. I have got a question of one of the buyers from the SOHC forum that the jewels have melted, probably by using bulbs with a too high wattage. I think that that is rare. I have several used K0 and K1 gauges where the jewels are in all cases in good condition.

Hi Marcel,

this is your next mission:

THE GEMS (especially the yellow).

You build the gems and You will make happy many persons of the SOOC.

I have requested a price for producing these gems. They came back with a estimated price of producing only the molds the between 5,000 and 6,000 Euros, excluding producing the gems itself. If I order 2,500 pieces the additional costs will be € 2,000. Excluding 19% VAT. That is a total cost of € 9,520. I have to sell a huge number of gems to only get out of the costs.

May be that one of our members live in China where the labour costs are must lower.

Marcel,
i refer to the plastic transparent gems, flah light, neutral, oil and turns.

Ok, but if someone else is able to produce these, it is of course very welcome as well. I live in The Netherlands and the labour costs are quite high here. May there is someone who lives in a country where labour costs are more reasonable.

I have made some changes to my website: http://www.cb750faces.com/

Any suggestion and comment is very, very welcome!
