Everything K0 / Re: 1969 Diecast/ K0 restoration

I hear that, photobucket has trashed several of my threads and other reference photos on other subjects. I paid their ransom for a month to transfer my photos to Google.  I really appreciate the ability to refer to the pictures and text here.

Engine Mechanical / carb body with a fingerprint?
« on: October 17, 2019, 10:49:02 pm »
Has anyone actually seen the carb body with a fingerprint in the casting or is it an urban myth?  If real what carbs had it?

Front End and Suspension / Re: Forks sliders oddity
« on: August 31, 2019, 11:46:33 pm »
My 5511 takes 46mm or 450 fork seals. 14100, built in 11/69 got the ones that didn't fit the Sandcast forks.
I went out and checked, both of my bikes have the non tapered tops. I have two more sets of lowers not on bikes, one tapered, one not. On those two sets only the brake side has the extra rib and it is on the tapered and non tapered. my 38,000 era 6/70 bike has the non tapered tops. It's hard to tell about the rib when the brakes are on. Both my K1 and early K2 front ends have the tapered tops.
None of mine have the slight taper. They are either the square shape or the fat taper.

For the record I'm unsure what forks were swapped at this time. I'm only positive about my Sandcast 5511, I have 4 K0 now and all except the 43,000 have the early tops that match my sandcast. I believe there was a change at around 39,120 in the K0's but the parts fische on partzilla  incorrectly lists 46mm seals for all of them.

Thanks for the thread, I enjoyed it and am always on the lookout for new to me information. I've had some luck with google photos and moving them using a thread on the sohc4.net open forum stickies.

5511 has one dimple above the bowl right side, 14,100 has one on the right side, approx. 10xxx one right side, 38,xxx two left side. There was a discussion on facebook and I checked.

General Discussion / Re: Build dates

I've often thought it would have been interesting to have witnessed the building momentum of the 750 factory, from a few bikes, to a few a week, to a few a day, then dozens, then hundreds,  etc, etc,

General Discussion / Re: 2017 Race Results
« on: March 11, 2019, 09:35:02 am »
We made a run at the Midwest Super Comp Series championship this year, we actually led the points for an hour or so. We ended up in second place. In the late season I changed from a dominator carb to a Holley Sniper EFI. Everyone said it was a bold move for someone in fourth place but we did that already and were set on a win. At the last race we made it to the final round but a rocker arm bolt backed out and she shut it off right after the launch.
We drew a former champion in a borrowed car at 3 races and he got past us twice. At the last race he finally got stomped. I was worried I got too happy on the starting line when we beat him. Didn't want to offend his car owner, he said it was OK they understood. My Daughter won Sportsperson of the year and I got Crewchief of the year at the banquet.

Good question, I have one bike that is for sure original, sandcast 5511, the 14,100 diecast has a different swingarm although it was from an earlier frame and my late K0 I think is original. If I get to the shop and can get between the bikes I'll try to compare them.

Wheels - Hubs - Spokes - Tires / Re: Water Inside A Rolled Rear Rim
« on: March 11, 2019, 09:20:55 am »
I had one rolled rim that was drilled for rim screws for use on a drag bike, we tig welded the holes and metal finished them except we left one hole on each bead on the inside for the chrome chemicals to be drained out. After I got them back they got a good flush with WD40.

Parts For Sale / Re: FS: CB750four K0 sandcast rear wheel
« on: March 11, 2019, 09:11:12 am »
Good to know, my 14,100 has a semi rounded rear wheel available to it. 5511 got it's original rolled rim wheel back from the drag bike it was loaned to.

I got lucky, while learning what my blue/green diecast was and slowly returning it to running then a more original appearance, I stumbled across a red sandcast. Now I have #3, a late K0 with some yucky brown paint and I don't care what color it was, It's going to be gold.
To be honest, I bought the diecast for the Lester mags. I had no idea it was early or special.  I'll probably go back to correct wheels if I ever find them.
