Gauges - Levers and Cables / Re: 5mm cables
« on: October 14, 2015, 07:43:01 am »
Dimensions of 5mm throttle cable!
Might not be correct as I got changed the high broad handlebars.
There are no end protection on the cable at the throttle end! Like on all 4 carb ends.
The whole set is 1070mm long including nipples.
Single cable 540mm.
The longer of the short ones 265mm. The short ones 245mm.
The 1 into 4 thing 90mm long.
Adding these numbers give 985mm!
Rest is free cable some 30mm for the carburettors!
I.e. pulling the throttle end out the carb ends protrudes to the top of the 5mm high nipple 31-29-29-30!
The throttle end from cable end to 6mm nipple 127mm including the in my case 56mm long adjuster.
The adjuster can lengthen 10mm further and takes 12mm cable into hiding.
Cables are firm into both ends of 1 into 4 thing.
Seems to be same dimension cable on my bicycle. The 1 into 4 thing might be the stumbling stone!

My sicker is placed 10mm from raised area and 8mm to the right of hole.

Oil Sticker is 80mm wide by 25 mm!
It´s the original.
Cover was only on for the first month.
Made the bike too broad!
The left one blew away on day 3.
Was never replaced. Though I got a new one.
Friend made me a frame-flat glass fibre thing.

Oilofilterhouse question has been up before.
Believe someone knew it started in the 17XX engine range.
Exact number was given in this forum some years ago.

1676 do have "made i japan" under neath and the other lettering too.
The "Tec" from horn button is that what is to be deciphered from the starter button too?
And I've had this thing for more than 46 years and never thought of looking for letters!

Brakes / Re: I need help identifying early rear brake arm
« on: August 26, 2015, 04:15:18 am »
On 1676 rear brake arm is straight.
No numbers on the back.
Eye seems to be off set a bit to the fore, some 2 mm.
I.e. a ruler along the rear arm edge and round part is 3mm further rear and along front edge 5mm to the fore!

General Discussion / Re: Value on a early diecast

Hallo Jan. If you want to touch the real thing (a Sandcast) and happen to pas København some day (Capital of Danmark for foreigners) my 1676 has not been on the road since '78 because vital parts then were transferred into a Seeley frame which might interest you too as you are on to a CR750! I have been on a Fireblade for the past 20 years and though the Seeley handles well, it is still no match for the Blade. And I am nothing but the rider of a bike!

P.S. Sorry I can't find the way to put in pictures here!
But if I just makes a mail a picture moves in, but then I have the problem of addressing it into this place in the forum!
P.P.S. My Sandcast do indeed look used, but it was not left outside like the one with kid. But parts are scattered all over the house!

Parts Q&A's and Feedback. / Re: Original-looking tires
« on: June 14, 2015, 01:59:28 am »
As I remember it the 125 Bridgestone racer was build to test their own tyres on but outperformed the tyres so a foreign brand had to be fitted!
As for 4 colours on original models might one be the grey on E vin 111 I distinct remember seeing on Nürburgring May 1970?

In the day changed 28n carb tops myself. New stronger springs were too strong for me. Went on for years with the original weak ones. Never had any sticking slides again. Did change to double cables when that possibility came my way. In my humble opinion the slides were the problem. If some day I put the old thing together again the 5mm cables and 28 carb tops plus from outside invisible higher slides shall be used. They seem to be a fraction smaller on diameter. Thus I get rid of the big clumsy 1 to 4 for 6mm cables thing with 2 long cables side by side compared to the original 5mm, where the cables are opposite one another giving an even pull on the "piston" inside as the curved cables for 1 and 4 gives more resistance because of their bends. Clearly seem when taking the things apart after 45 years this winter. Grease marks reveal the piston tilts in the one for 6mm cables. P.S. None with an idea about numbers on the back lower part of Sand Cast engine castings? Dated 5-20 and 5-19 for the top. None on my die cast 19xxx.

Pictures gives me the chance to ask about the numbers on the back?:
B936? Mine are A296. And the "9" does not look like a Honda "9"!
