General Discussion / Ignition mark???
« on: July 14, 2024, 04:35:36 am »
Hello!
I´m about to set the ignition on my 1969 CB 750 sand cast and when I look trough the small hole in the ignition plate  were the points are I could only see a very small vertical line (2mm high) which is made on the aluminium crank case boss behind the timing plate. It  looks like the mark  is made by a chisel!? This chisel mark is only 1-1,5mm to the right  from were the aluminium boss starts and not in the middle of the boss like on the K1, K2 and K3 CB 750 models , and not as easy to see and well-defined.
Is this the timing mark?
Regards!

Hi!
The 1969 bikes  (K0) had the 45 teeth rear sprocket and 17 teeth front sprocket.
If you change to a 48 teeth sprocket and keep the original 17 front, the bike will rew more at the same speed and will accelerate better.
But...my opinion is that the original is better as I do not wont a bike that rews as much. Less rpm at a given speed is better!

None of the above mentioned ignitions systems seems to be available anymore...Just get at a blank (black screen) when klicking on the last address.

Hi!
Motorcycle batteries are easily obtainable in every bike shop. You only have to mention the voltage and Amp, and the hight, lenght and with.
See to that if you buy a lead /acid battery that you buy a maintenance free battery. Not a battery you have to fill with acid...which might tend to leak acid out the overflow tubing.
If you want a ligher (around 1 kg) ,buy a Lipofe4 batteri.

They ar easily removed so do not think that is a problem.
I copper plated one though, that could perhaps prohibit rust.
Thin copper plating is easy to do on steel, I just put on"rust eater", and at the same time brush the steel surface with a copper brush then wipe away  remaning residue with a cloth.

Hi!
I made two thin wall steel tubings like SAM spoke about to align the silencers . -Strange that Honda did not do that from the beginning. Just thrusting a rubber grommet isn't that convincing.

Front End and Suspension / Re: Rear shocks on a 1969
« on: October 28, 2020, 02:06:22 pm »
Hi!
Went to" Z1 Parts" and saw that they had two different shocks, both made to "sand cast " standards. One was exactly like the ones I have ,with aluminum upper mount (16mm) and six coil spring and the other like the one we have spoken about here ,with black upper mount (22mm) with seven coil spring.
How come there are two different shocks that re supposed to fit the CB 750 Sand cast frame? -Did Honda make two different frames, one with shorter rear upper shock mount and one with longer ?

Hi!
Yeah! Sure I would like to get a set of original ones but is that possible today? I mean I both like to have the right shape but also  want them to function.

Hi!
Problem with buying from Japan is the High custom charges( 25%) on goods to Sweden
Buying from European companies is therfore much more favorable.

Hi!
Are my shocks for a K1 or K2 or later model?
So these from CMS in Holland would be more fitting?

The shoulder bolt?? What should it look like?
And what about the coils on the shocks? Had the original CB 750 sand cast seven coils?
