Hi there,
my chrome-plater removed the rivets from the DC before chrome-plating. He did not arrange for a replacement.
Does any of you know where I can buy the rivets?
It should look completely original again.
I hope someone can help me.

I have used 4mm stainless steel bolts and turned the head of the bolts in a lathe. Afterwards they are sanded and polished and the ends are cut off. Then they are fitted with nuts. It looks exactly like chrome-plated rivets when fitted.
It is easy to carry out and there is no risk of damaging an expensive front fender.

It is not in the parts list from 1st April 1969, but in parts list from December 20. 1971 the protector is introduced from CB750E-1026144. I thought it was made for sandcasts, but it seems not to be the case.

What is understood by "imported"? By Peter Owesen.
That he did not by it through the official appointed Honda dealer?
Did he get it directly from Honda Japan? Or Sweden?

No, Peter imported it from the US about the year 2003 or so.

I have been told by Peter Ovesen who imported my SC that 5 SC`S were imported to Denmark in those days. I do not know if any of theese exists today but as far as I know there are about 5 SC`s today in Denmark.

It is very easy to see with the engine in the frame. My E1002276 is stamped: E-1

I am agree with CBman in some way, but there will not become any new frames and engine cases with correct numbers.
We do not know how many there are left, but I am sure that many are melted long time ago. I think prices will differ more than now from the very very early examples to the latest exampels. The same for originality to repro.

In the book "Honda CB750 Gold Portfolio 1969-1978" there is an arthicle (5 pages) about YLY 70H with original license plate. The bike is owned and restored to perfect condition by a man named Keith Newton. I do not know how old the book is or if he still is the owner.

Sold for $25.101. When we see what other classic bikes cost theese days it still seems that sandcasts are very attractive.
Good luck for the new owner. I think he has got a very nice bike.

In accordance to parts list no. 1 there are no stickers on the rear fender. I don`t believe either that VIC has made a mistake here: http://cb750sandcastonly.com/gallery/Honda-Museum-VIN-189/Honda_Museum_2_VIN_18X

I also thought about Steves advise with the seat. I came to the conclusion that if I had to by foam and skin from JP, seat pan from other source and send to a specialist to be made the total costs would be very near to a complete seat from JP. In case I also had find strap, list, screws and other parts.

It looks correct with 17 holes when some holes are covered with the rubber brackets.

It`s at beautiful sandcast.
Some hints/remarks and what you are missing in my mind:

- Change the spark plug cabs and cables to black (original - not NGK)
- Paint the instruments black
- Change to the correct grips on the handlebar
- Polish the front forks
- Route the cable on the right side of the engine under the kick starter
- Your Sandcast is "late type", and 17 holes in the seat pan is correct as far as I know, but the 10 hole YAMIYA seat is top. I have one and I can recommend it.
- As far as I know is the only stickers you have to put on is the rear fork and the oil tank cover. There where no one on the rear fender.
- HM300 exhaust is OK.
- Change the tachometer cable to black
- The mirrors seams correct.
- In my mind there is no reason for using powder coating on a sandcast
- Thees stainless Allen bolts are your personal choice. I have a K1 with these. Grrr...:-)
- The tubes on the carbs seems to be green. I purpose black
- I think the correct side cover emblems should be yellow.
- Yes, put on the correct tank trim without the black strip
- It is missing the chain guard
- Maby polish the Hube's.
