Motorcycle's Wanted / 12mm front sprocket bolt
« on: February 23, 2022, 07:55:53 am »
I am currently working on engine number 101xxxx and noticed the chain oiler bolt that threads into the input shaft is missing.  I had one for a 102xxxx engine but apparently the 101xxxx is smaller in diameter.  If anyone has one laying around it would be appreciated.

So what is your frame number. 101xxx covers a lot of territory

i agree..lol..  i guess + or- 1000 of my engine number 1013573 would be close enough for me.

I recently found a set of early 28 carburetors.  Is there any performance benefits with the short slides and light springs?

The alternator cover is a later version.. The paint looks a little too nice to have 20,000 miles on it... Makes me think this bike was put together to make someone believe it was an original survivor imho. Look how nice the mastercylinder is, looks like its never seen the sun.   Other than that its a very nice example indeed...

Thats why you let people bid and not try to sell "buy it now".  In my experience when two or more people get into a bidding war is when you get the most money...."buy it now" imho deters bidders unless your buy it now price is low then you'll sell quickly.   How do you even make a guy an offer on a $30,000 bike when he's asking $56,000???? ???

I'm not sure how early or late the tank is.  I think he wants $2500 which I feel is a little unrealistic, but the more I think about it where am I going to find another one?..

General Discussion / Opinion needed on original paint
« on: January 19, 2017, 04:17:40 pm »
I have sandcast 1977 and the guy I purchased it from had it repainted very nicely just not in its original color.  He had an original paint set used but very nice patina. He sold me the side covers fork ears and airbox but not the tank quite a few years ago for a K0 project I had but would part with the tank.  I now have a chance at purchasing the wrinkle tank to complete my set and make my sandcast all original.  The problem is he wants a lot of money for it.  How much more would my sandcast be worth with an original paint on it compared to buying a yamiya wrinkle set?  The original paint is very nice with minimal fading a few scratches and wear marks.  I can probably buy a yamiya wrinkle set for what he wants for the tank.  Also the inside of the tank is spotless.  My other option would be have the repainted set thats on my sandcast repainted it also has a very clean wrinkle tank.  Opinions please....
