General Discussion / Unique petcock from SC#81
« on: November 19, 2021, 04:22:41 pm »
Here are a few pics of the petcock from SC#81.  I wanted to ask the group if anyone has seen this type of petcock.  It is very similar to the short neck on my SC#1138.  The only other petcock similar to this one was the petcock on the blue/green prototype.  Thoughts?

This Thursday I finally got delivery of my first and probably only 2 number sandcast.  I bought this bike almost 6 months ago and finally got delivery 3 days ago.   It's not easy importing a bike from Mexico for some reason but Sam (Ujeni) had recommended his Customs Borker, Monique, and she was fantastic.  From the start of the process, she assured me that I would get my bike and she kept good on her promise.  I highly recommend her if you are thinking of importing a motorcycle into the US.

I got to go over the bike this weekend and the bones of the bike are solid but it is missing a few key parts including a 19 liter tank, recessed ignition switch, hand controls, side covers, early master cylinder, two hole airbox, , and a few other parts that i'm probably forgetting.  I have a few of these parts from other bikes i have collected such as the recessed ignition switch and early master cylinder but I will need to find the other parts which I think is a fun but often frustrating part of this hobby.

I plan to restore this bike, but will do so once I determine my plan of action and secure the necessary funds.  I'll post pics once i figure out how to,

General Discussion / Bitter sweet find
« on: November 13, 2019, 01:45:55 am »
About a year and a half ago I saw this ad for a cb750 that was being parted out.  The picture on the ad was that of a ruby red CB750.  It had only one picture and not much information.  The seller was parting it out.  I messaged the seller to see if I can save this bike, however he did not respond.  I saved the ad and for about a year and a half I messaged him probably 20 times asking if it was still available.   The ad had been removed from the website but for some reason I could still view it because I had saved it.  Well long story short, the guy messages me back about 2 months ago and asked if I was interested in the whole bike.  I asked him what he wanted for the bike not knowing that it was a sandcast.   He said what do you have to trade.  I asked him what he was planning to do with the bike and he had told me he was going to remove the engine to place in a golf cart project that he was planning.  I offered him a trade - his CB750 project for a 1982 CB900F engine which he could use instead of the sandcast engine.  He said yes.  So we do the trade and I had the bike delivered to my house while I was on vacation.  When I finally got to see what I had traded for, I was so disappointed to see that the numbers on both the engine and frame had been altered.  The bike however must have been quite early as it had a left sided horn mount, thin lipped alternator cover, 19 liter tank and short petcock.  The bike also had the double cut fender and rear rolled rim.  I was trying to figure out what I should do with this bike.   After much contemplation, I decided to keep the bike and maybe build it out.  I could probably get it running and road worthy.

I just was just at the show in Carmel.  It was amazing.  The featured bikes were the Honda Cb750 sandcasts.  I took some pictures of the sandcasts bikes as well as Vic World's all original CR750.

General Discussion / Need some advice on a frame 2568
« on: April 24, 2018, 03:35:35 pm »
I needed some expert advice on a frame that I acquired last year.  The frame is number 2568.  It looks to have some repairs on it including a poorly welded kickstand mount and it looks like they welded the middle section of the frame that holds the battery from another CB750 (non-k0).  My question is, should I try to repair these sections? Or is there another option?  I'm not a good welder.  I've done small jobs but not frames so any recommendations would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Services Wanted/Offered / Advice for rebuilding the top end
« on: February 12, 2018, 04:27:31 pm »
Hi Fellas.  I'm trying to get information on services and pricing  to rebuild the top end of my engine.  I would need the cylinders to be replaced as the stock ones are rusted and I would need to have the cylinder head and valves to be redone.  I have seen places like APE and Cycle X, offer these services but if you guys have trusted people or companies that you use for this type of work please let me know.
Thanks
Arnold

Wayne thanks for letting me join this awesome forum.  I'm relatively new to the hobby and have been buying old Honda motorcycles for the past 3 years.  I started with a 1977 CB550 and from then on caught the bug.   I have had a number of bikes and love meeting the people in the hobby.  Lately though I have been into sandcast 750's and CB750 K0.  I have had a sandcast frame with an unstamped engine which I ended up selling - big mistake! I recently found a sandcast engine for $75 - it was #646.  The engine needed a lot of work and I ended up selling that as well.   I did not think it was fair to the hobby for me to keep it if I wasn't able to rebuild the engine.  This past sunday however, I ran into a CL ad for a chopper with a sandcast engine.  It was only on CL for about 3 hours.  I called up the guy and he sold it to me, so I have engine #2184.  This engine is in much better shape.  All the fins are in good shape.  The engine has compression and cranks over.  Finding this engine has given me some encouragement that some day I will have my very own Sandcast.  Prior to this find, I have been buying up 1970 CB750 K0 bikes all over the US.  I found a gold one in Santa Cruz, a Blue/green one Wisconsin, and another blue/green one in Maryland all within the past month.  And even today I found bought another K0 in Michigan.
