General Discussion / Questions to identify parts?
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:23:38 am »
Ola gentlemen, got a couple of questions. I want to post correctly when I sell some of the parts off. I was planning on keeping the rear wheel. But when I got the wheel off and saw the inside of the rear hub. I'm thinking it's sandcast as well? Or atleast important to resto guys. Never seen one that looked like this inside. And I take pride in my sales and work. And don't want to be one of them people on ebay that say everything they have is sandcast.  I have a bin of parts I'll photograph today as well. But before I head to the shop today. I'll post what I photographed yesterday.

My frame has been raped by the previous owner badly. With little hope of returning it to original. So I'm thinking of a hardtail section welded in for a nice low 69 bobber.

And to help fund the project and to possibly help out some guys looking for rare parts for a resto at the same time. Just wondering if I should list some of this.

I'm wondering about the rear hub assembly.

 The swing arm

Axle adjusters at the moment. I'll check out the oil pan and oil filter today as well. If a normal oil pan will fit these 69 cases I'll swap it out and wondering if there's guys looking for the old bolts with the number 8 on them for correct restos. I have 13 other motors I can replace bolts for my own needs. Thankyou for taking time to look  Mike

Hi gentlemen, Names Mike Worthy up here in Washington. Found me a 1969 not sandcast cases but most parts are sandy I believe. And thought it'd be a good idea to join with the experts on this subject so I know what I have.  Been into cb750's sohc's for a long time now and make part of my living making custom parts for honda choppers and custom bikes...You may recognize my screen name from other boards dealing with cb750 and ebay. I love these bike and ride one daily.
Now I finally own a piece of true honda history. I never thought I'd see a sandy in person. And have yet to see a set of sandy cases with my own eyes. But I was super excited to find this bike in my own town in a pile of junk for sale on the curb! When I saw those four cables coming out of a set of round tops. I was digging in my pocket for my money before even shutting my own chop off ;) And minutes after brought her to her new home to be built back to what it should or could be again.

You can google my screen name naguethey to learn more about me and see the handful of videos I post on youtube that a good portion of them deal with cb's. ie. how too vids and many road trip videos.

Looking forward to learning more about my new purchase. ( think I'm gonna actually keep the majority of this one ) But a few parts such as the carbs and such will be made available for sale after cleaning and rebuild. To fund the build of the rest of it.

VIN's / motor vin 1009654 some sandy parts I think?
« on: March 05, 2010, 04:37:39 pm »
Carbs have 4 cables. Head is missing the front center bolt. Cases are a bit higher number. But have no ridge around the vin number. Cases are rougher around the seems than the other 13 motors I have.

Top triple tree has rubber mounted bars? Motor is locked up but complete minus a bottom left fin corner broke off. ( was told it had just been rebuilt before he had bought it) And of course this baffoon let it set for years.

I think 1007414 was the last sandy. But I think I have some sandy parts on this bike.
