Web Site Changes / New Theme

Ahhh!!! Everything looks different! Why is this happening to me?!  :-[

So you noticed the new theme huh? Why are we using a new theme by default? Three reasons:
  • Easier to read and parse (both content and controls)
  • Renders well on tablets and phones now
  • Modern appearance
Give it a try. Hopefully, you will notice that the content is easier to digest on all your devices!

If you are positive that it's not for you, thats ok. You can easily change your personal preference back to the original blue theme. Follow these instructions:
  • Click your user profile avatar in the upper left corner of the screen and select "Account Settings"
  • Click "Modify Profile" and select "Look and Layout"
  • The first option lists your current theme. Click the "change" link.
  • Locate "SMF DEFAULT THEME - CURVE" and click the "Use this theme" link
Done! You can change your personal theme setting whenever you like.

As always, let me know if you find an issue with the new version of the forum!

Web Site Changes / Forum Upgrades!

Time to go to the next oversize piston!  ;D

I will be upgrading the forum software on Thursday, September 26th in the morning PST. Why? Quicker performance, more features and better security. The forum will likely be down for an hour or two.

Afterwards, we will need to sync the carbs, break out the dwell meter and go for a test drive! There may be a few bumps, but they will be ironed out. Thanks for your patients and support!

I have had the pleasure of seeing this bike up close a few times and even had the opportunity to help start the bike at the 2019 Quail Motorcycle Gathering. It is a FANTASTIC piece of history. This is on the level of the prototype that Vic sold (which I also saw in person). This will be a very fun auction to watch. Restoration of Sandcast #538 / Sandcast #538 Restoration Timelapse

Hi everyone!

I bought sandcast #538 form the original owner. It was parked more than 30 years ago, so it was a great candidate for a full restoration. Last time I restored a sandcast (#410), I decided to take a unique picture of it. You can read about that bike here. For #538, I decided to film the entire restoration! It worked out to almost 40 hours of timelapse footage! Perhaps I'll post longer timelapse cuts if people are interested, but for now, here is the five minute version (make sure you have the sound on!):

Parts Wanted / Rear Rim (Doesn't Need to be Rolled)

Fenders (mudguards) and Seats / Rear Fender Chrome Shop?

I have a correct rear fender for my K0, but I need to have the existing old chrome removed, a small hole filled, a small dent fixed and have it re-chromed. Living in California seems to be the wrong place for that sort of thing; two of the shops I have used in the past are ow out of business! Does anyone have a suggestion for a singe shop that could do all of this? Anywhere in the USA is fine with me, but a recommendation from someone who has used the shop is what I am after.

Doesn't look like my 19 liter tank. Mine has wrinkles by the filler neck. This one doesn't appear to have that. I'm doubtful. What do you guys think?
