I found this info on some running changes for the KO.

CB750E-1000001   -   K0
CB750E-1000140   -   Bolt at the final drive changed from M8x80 to M10x82
CB750E-1000220   -   new lower case, engine case only available as set
CB750E-1000425   -   Transmission changed for better shifting
CB750E-1001081   -   new crankshaft
CB750E-1001760   -   7 instead of 8 clutch disks
CB750E-1003528   -   new final drive shaft and sprocket
CB750E-1005307   -   fixed right bearing of main tranny shaft
CB750E-1007220   -   new lower case, deeper oil pan
CB750E-1007414   -   End of sandcast engines

I know this is an old post but I just stumbled accross it.  Does anyone know what transmission changes were made at 425.  In comparing my E100 transmission to later ones I didn't see any differences.  Could it be in the drum or forks?

it's nice to see Mark is the only one not stoned and lives in my old home state none the less.  Go Gophers !  

i missed the 425 in the original (Wayne's) post and was inquiring where 425 could be referenced.  

and dear old Keith, just trying to be helpful, asked me if i was ok.

so, i was responding to Keith's post of....  "Steve, You still celebrating New Years? Oh, you're in Colorado aren't you?"  ::)  :D  ;D

National news has been blathering about the great state of colorado, as of jan.1st, became a marihuana legal state.  Keith was just expressing his concern i might be up to some wacky weed high jinx activity.  "4:20" is the universal north american cannabis culture code call to acknowledge their use of the stuff.  

and how do i know trivia like this you might ask...........  welllll............. i'm just entering my 41st year working in the mental health/addictions health care industry.  (At least that's what i'm telling ya'll.)

Keith, you keep track of those things, eh ?

Sorry Mark. I know you were asking a serious question and you deserve a serious answer.

I am not 100% positive but I think the change(s) at 425 had to do with the shift linkage and detent stuff that bolts on the end of the drum. I know this stuff was changed early. There were some issues with the transmission jumping through/past gears when shifting and difficulty finding neutral. The first linkage/detent stuff had a locking strip that extended across both studs and had tabs that were bent to lock the nuts. That went away when the changes were made. Also had a different detent plate and detent roller arms. I think one of the clutch changes also had to do with the hard to find neutral issue. Pretty sure all the shafts, gears, forks, and drum stayed the same until the output shaft and bearing lock ring were changed some VINs up the line.

I actually saw the Colorado law change on CNN and that itself was amazing as I rarely watc the flat screen on the wall. I immediately thought of you  ;D given your home state and your profession. Nevertheless the state of Colorado will prove to be the lead in this area. I'm not supporting the use of any drug but law enforcement and Governments all over the world have been trying for decades to control this stuff and where has it got us.

 4006/4007 they went from the two bolt air box bracket to the 3 bolt bracket.  Just to add something.

Ya'All, I have 4 of those 2 hole suckers and not one is really any good. They need cracks fixed and wonder if it's actually worth spending the money. There are 4 parts on a sandcast that you just have to buy repops to replace. Seat, pipes, chain guard and that f'n 2 hole airbox. One thing though, is those 4 items are very well reproduced
