Yikes!  Just think what it would bring in a good economy.  ;) I'm sure we all like to see the sandy prices staying high, just not when we're trying to buy them.  :(

Just think, I had a deal to buy the whole bike (I believe it's the same bike) that the filter cover came from for $1500.00!!  :( :(

The buyer must have really wanted an original to complete a restoration...

or...

Put a bid price out there to make sure he got it and never dreamed it would go that high...

or both.

The winning bidder is a regular buyer of sandcast stuff and knocks most of us over on the really hard to find items. Doesn't seem to faint (like me) when the bidding gets hot and only bids (snipes) at auction end. This buyer has knocked me out on many items I've wanted to buy including some stuff I've bid really high on in recent months. When you've been outbid by a***o (private) you know you've had your arse kicked   :o KP

Same experience.
There are some bidders that put incredible high prices.
In those case i was very happy when i was on second place in the auction.
Better save money in this period!!!!!!
