The very early master cylinder caps (light coloured cap on right in photo 1) were on the very first production bikes but on what machines is not clear. My VIN 248 had a machined cap (albeit not in good condition
) These were machined from billet whereas later caps were cast. Maybe these early caps were too slow or costly to produce hence the move to cast caps.
