some really great parts on this old dog. shame the thin lip has been lost.
WHATR DO YOU ALL SEE THERE AND WHAT DO YOU SEE MISSING
i love seeing an early vin in this condition. separates the men from the boys

What I see is that I am a boy and wouldn't dare buying and restoring this one.
How long will it take to find all the missing and special parts for that early SC?
What I see further is that I didn't pay far too much for my #1983 project although I don't know how much more a 3 digit numbers bike will reach when restored compared to a lower middle range number bike.
Is a genuine round oil filter case really that shiny and edgy?

as tempting as it 'could' be, i would not want to get near it for $12k either, so i am one of the boys
not difficult to imagine it may well have come from the factory with a 19 liter tank of which i've seen 3 on ebay in the past 15 years
if it had more of the really hard or near impossible to find parts on it, vin 398/E405 would be a little more special. the tank and alternator cover are the two big items, followed by a rear rim, front fender, seat, switch/lock, gauges and this is the beginning of the list..........
the o.f. cover looks original as far as i can see....

what i find sad is how people can take a perfectly good motorcycle take it apart and turn it into a p.o.s. i've done some things in my life i'm not proud of, but deliberately neglecting or destroying a motorcycle is not one of them.

Needs work! (and deep pockets).
Long choke lever present, and one plain oil pipe, one braided. No chain damage is a plus.

232's is the only original i've seen. it had what i would consider a fair amount of road blast, i have heard they are pretty smooth. comparing mine to his, i'd say his cover looks original. the guy seems pretty unmotivated to have done anything with the bike over the fairly long time he's owned it. seems kind of hard for me to conceive he would go to the trouble of making a cover. but, who knows ? anything's possible !

It looks different and smoother because it is chrome I think, like the rest of other covers...
