Just finished getting 5383 back together.  Here's a link on the SOHC4 site for a thread on my progress if you're interested.  Unfortunately I didn't start the thread from the beginning of the project but it includes most of the reassembly.

As far as restorations go this one wasn't too bad.  It was all there and ran great but it definately needed the cosmetic stuff.  When I got it, it was missing the airbox and the side covers and tank were a different shade of red from the fork ears and headlight bucket.  And there was enough rust in places that it wasn't a candidate for keeping original.  Except for the repro airbox and side covers its pretty correct for its VIN.  The new no number pipes were the finishing touch.  Here's a couple of pics.

Looks great Mark! Well done. I followed your thread at SOHC4 and will be using it as my Bible! Awesome! Thank you for sharing.  :)

Thanks Wayne.  That's very flattering.  Believe me, I still have plenty to learn.  By the way, would this be the catagory for a thread on restoring #97.  I thought I remembered something about having a section just for build threads.  Not sure when I'm going to get on it but when I do I'll try to share as much info as possible.

I think what I will do for someone who wants to document a restoration is to make a designated category. I was also thinking that I would make the owner of the restoration the moderator of their thread. That way they are in control of anything that is posted in the thread. Does that make sense? Thoughts folks?

It would look like this:

Sandcast Restorations
Marks Restoration of 97 - Moderator Mark1b
Wayne Restoration of 576 - Moderator Wayne
etc, etc, as more are added

Wayne, that sounds OK to me too although I'm not sure what I would moderate.  This group seems pretty well behaved.   ;D
You'll have to fill me in on what to do, maybe send me an email.

Marty, Thanks for the compliment.
