Suzuki RE5 Rotary the answer to a question nobody asked .

Original '75 Goldwing , faster than a Z1 in a straight line , over engineered , start of a legend .

72 H2 Kawasaki Triple 'The Widowmaker ' say no more .

CB400F , Mr Soichiro Honda used to ride one round the grounds . Sweet little sewing machine .

Moly Graphics Z1R Turbo , turn up the boost , sit on , hang on , shut up , point at the horizon , pull the trigger and shut down as you glimpse "God "

As the prices of Sandcasts climbs the incentive for forgery will climb with it . There are thousands still unaccounted for , nature abhors a vacuum .

Ducati 750 GT's from 1972-1974 now fetch over $30k USD on a regular basis . Engine rebuilds are more expensive , parts no harder to find , no electric start except for a very very few , way less horsepower , dreadful electrics and numbers wise about as exclusive as a sandcast . I think it is about time that sandcasts assumed their rightful place in the collectable pecking order . The earliest Z1 Kawasaki's , the 1972 model up to frame number 2,000 odd had some significant differences to later bikes and have always commanded a premium over sandcasts , I have always thought that this anomaly would one day right itself

The Beginning / Re: "non-acid" rust removal products
« on: May 09, 2014, 04:19:03 am »
Immerse the tank in a 1 in 10 dilute solution of molasses diluted with water . It is non toxic , cheap as chips ( 15 kg of the stuff is $12 at  produce store ) . It will not harm paint . Use gloves or you will stain your hands . Soak for about a week for light rust. Rinse out with water , the waste can go down any drain . Note the bare metal after will be pristine And will flash rust so you will have to put a liner in very soon . Watch all the stuff on. YouTube about molasses . I have done crusty leaf springs suspension bits , pitted chrome , swing arms etc etc . Cheap non toxic and it works .

I am taking a very long term view on this  . I will get my money back . If you pay too much you can rationalise by saying you bought too early . In Australia a three digit Sandcast should be worth well over $20,000 . Sandcasts as well as K0's ( K's) are relatively rare in Australia as the US market sucked nearly all of the supply in 69-70. With attention to detail and all the correct parts a pristine example should be worth over $30,000 , there is however a limited number of buyers at that price here . Certainly unlikely to get that price on EBay . Most likely my Sandcasts will be my children's problem can't think why I would be a in a hurry to sell them . Very little holding costs , you can ride and polish your investment whilst grinning  , likely to outperform inflation and no capital gains tax here . Sold all my shares got sick of being misinformed by stockbrokers and scammed by insider trading .

Get On A Honda and Go ! Greatest motorcycle manufacturer of all time .

I went nuts when I restored frame number 957 buying all manner of Sandcast parts off Fleabay so I can take what I have bought today and build an almost correct very early Sandcast what I dont have I willswap from 957 and keep an eye out . I have a set of pre recall carbs with 26 stamps and the small diameter cable. Early wrinkle tank , early NOS airbox , Lotus root exhausts , early black master  cylinder , wiring loom, instruments, brakes ,ducktail seat (red foam ) , double cut fender , correct tail light, correct shocks ,etc etc Ill get there eventually.Have  been waiting for an auction like this to get all the bits onto a bike !

Yes , Luis from Australia . I already have most of the rest of the parts for the bike so will be able to get it all back together . Shame I didn't get the barrels though. Will get Peter Molloy and Dudley Lister  to rebuild the engine with a complete blueprint . I have frame number 957 so should make a nice pair .
