Shows and Events / Pebble Beach Concours 2015
« on: December 04, 2014, 12:15:04 pm »
The Pebble Beach Concours has ha da motorcycle class for the last five years. This year they are featuring Japanese motorcycles. Probably one of the 1st major shows to do something like that. I know they are interested in having a very original CB-750 Sandcast on display.

Of course you have to deal with folks like Jay Leno checking out your bike.............

General Discussion / RIP Bob Hansen
« on: February 17, 2013, 05:33:39 pm »
I just heard that Bob Hansen passed away. he has to be THE most significant person in CB-750 history since he planted the seed of the idea of the multi-cylinder roadster to Mr. Honda. Later he managed the team that won Daytona on a CB-750 with Dick Mann piloting it. I got to know him in the eighties and always had funn visiting with him.
I last saw him in 2011 at the show in Del Mar,California. He was feeble but recognized me.
RIP Bob

French Sandcasts / Re: Old member from France

This was extremely interesting! I have come across blank replacement cases before. This make sense about them using up inventory to meet demand. No manufacturer is going to tell them "They'll have to wait".

I got to know Bob Hanson years ago and he told me some interesting tales about how it came about.

When I've got time I'll write up my memories. I last saw him in San Diego a year ago. He was frail but remebered me.

General Discussion / Petcock leaking
« on: September 28, 2011, 02:48:07 pm »
I've been riding my 750 lately and suddenly the petcock is leaking. A garage full of fumes is not my favorite air freshener! Is there an updated kitthat will stand the ravages of ethanol? Thanks!

New Member Introductions / Introduction
« on: June 22, 2011, 04:58:28 pm »
I just joined the forum.I can actually remember new CB750s when I was stationed in the Orient. We could get them for $995 ! Guys promptly screwed them up by flocking the tanks etc.
I bought my 1st on in 1984 at an auction of Zach Reynold's estate. (See Avatar). It was built by RC Engineering when Byron Hines was in the back room twisting wrenches. Over the years I've had several really low number bikes including 2 digit serial numbers. I have a stock one and a KO (diecast) that came from Japan. The Japanese market ones were slightly different.Taillights had amber side reflectors and an light that came on at  55MPH ?
I have a great interest in early speed eguipment for Hondas. A whole no market was opened up with the introduction of the transverse multis.
Here is a pictur of Zach Reynolds. He was the grandson of R.J.Reynolds. He was a real gearhead who died in a plane crash. Google his name.

Years ago I met a guy from Germany. He had a sandcast with 170,000 miles on it! He said Honda had tried to buy it off of him.
