G'Day All.
I recently joined this select bunch of like minded or possibly insane people. After cutting my teeth on CB750's in the 1970's and along series of various steeds since, I've arrived back where I started. Because sandcasts are reasonably rare in Australia I imported one from the the US. It's number 1637 and caused a bit of excitement on this site at the time because of the price. The strong Aussie dollar made it reasonably palatable though. It had a good few of the desirable sandcast goodies but a few items that were just not right and this is where the fun begins.
I am a bit of a perfectionist with these things and its quickly become apparent that with all the subtle differences in these bikes its going to be interesting times ahead. Do you wait for that virtually impossible part to come up on Ebay or do you use a replica? Invariably the part you want turns up just after you've bought the replica. This is when you ask yourself, is it a passion or an obsession?
The club is a great forum and the contributions invaluable. I just hope as I learn more I can give something back.
cheers
