Looking at my rear wheel it does not appear to be the rolled rear wheel that has been decribed in other threads and from pictures I have looked at. This leaves me somewhat puzzled as to what would be the "correct" wheel for this bike. (576/748) I spoke with the last owner, who called the original owner and he says the wheels were never replaced. Can someone tell me what wheel I have here and is it "correct" for the bike?

I do not know, but on my rims the "DID" mark are on the center of the rim, close to the tube valve.

Take a few good quality and well lit close up shots and email them to me. The spoke grove looks to be the deep type which was unique to the rolled rim but the picture is just not clear enough to tell KP

Wayne,

Looking at wheel pics on your website, i am going to bet the house your rear rim is the correct round bead type.

Compare the face of rear rim bead to that of the face on the front rim bead. The differences betwwen the two bead faces should be readily evident.

The front rim bead has an obvious flat face which is in contrast to lack of any flat bead on on rear rim.

KP has an eye like a hawk, if you send him pics, he'll be able to tell.

The rear rim shown on your websight is for sure the correct "rolled" rim

Thanks guys. I was comparing to one I came across in a post on here that seemed to have a very pronounced center area. It seemed much higher than mine. Maybe an optical illusion as it was quite rusty. I sent some high res photos to KP. For the curious amongst you here they are:

Thanks guys! That's one less part to scrounge for! As I learn what I have here, I think I'm pretty lucky!

Rear rim should have more of a quarter round edge than the front. Looks good in the picture but comparing it to the front rim will make it a dead give away.
