Removing Chrome

The previous owner must have through chrome was the coolest thing, because he chromed the alternator cover, the clutch cover, the valve cover and even the swing arm!

Arggg ::)

My understanding is that one should not simply blast off the chrome from aluminum parts (it could leave the aluminum pitted). I'm told that I need to have the parts "de-chromed".

Does anyone have a shop that they trust to do this sort of thing? I've called around to a few places and not been impressed.

any chrome plater can remove chrome plate.  they just put it in their electrolytic acid bath and the old chrome comes off opposite how it went on.
