This replacement LH switch, F 031, arrived from Yamiya.
I sent them a pic of the rough flat-black finish on the underside, this is the answer I got.

...."Thank you for your inquiry.
1. The OEM item of HONDA is such finish altogether about two years before.
Therefore, our website has also carried such a photograph.
We checked to HONDA before.
I think that the factory was changed into China from Japan.
Even if you send it, we stock only the thing of such finish."

Is the LH switch i received a good repro of the original? That seems to be what Yamiya are suggesting or perhaps I'm misunderstanding their reply.  My old switch is faded at bottom but not rough.  Rob, #6806

Use some car polish with a light scratch remover in it.

Bickle is correct. Black anodise needs to be polished so I suggest you use Mothers or use a buff with jewelers rouge and I think you will be happy with the finish

the top finish is beautiful but no way to polish out the bottom piece - i tried it on a buffer wheel.  It has a web like finish of rough metallic fragments in the anodized surface that can't be polished smooth.  - i'll send it back.
