Wow, that makes the original #97 look like a show bike. Hmm. Maybe I should bid on it.
yeah, i thought of 97, when i saw this UK bike.
$9k seems a bit high to me. missing alot and what's there is rusty/oxidized. as far as chassis ancillaries, looks like it's missing everything except oil tank, fenders and h.l. ears. shocks are probably junk. no fasteners ? my figuring on the high side, of parts in the pics, frame $1750. engine $3500. front end $1500. rear wheel $750. left over pieces $500. that's $8000 on a
really good day. being realistic, on a good day, a figure more like $5500 is what the bike would bring parted out.
figures never lie but liars figure. go figure.
as a frame of reference, in terms of how prices have gone up, in 2001, when i decided i wanted a 1969 CB750, i bid on a red bike on ebay up in Saskatchewan, seems it had like around 12,000 miles on it, it was very clean, complete, original, unmolested running 2nd owner machine. the winning bid was $7500 and change. around the same time, i remember seeing a relatively complete, non-running not much molested 4xxx bike, it sold for $4500
probably this website has impacted desirability of things sandcast. parts on ebay under sandcast listing used to be under 100 and pretty much exploded to over 1000 listed items, as seen now. sellers ads list info they could not find elsewhere, except for this website.
