Any good tricks for restoring the front brake disk on a CB750?

I have a disk in nice shape but would like to improve the looks of the disk itself. I can chuck it on the lathe on the ID and I'm thinking maybe Scotchbrite or fine sandpaper. Any opinions before I try it?

I too have thought about this for restoring an old rotor. From my automotive experience I remembered what re-surfaced flywheels looked like. If that's the look your after just seek out an automotive machine shop that has a flywheel resurfacing machine. It will be pretty and true as it can be...if they can chuck it properly that it. Just a thought.

It looks nice but I don't think that the grinding pattern is like the original. It's more of a swirl or circular pattern instead of radial. Unless I'm mistaken about the original look.

If you look at the restored disc in the topic close to this you can see how my restore looks. It was made with a machine ( I dont know the name in english but translated direct from swedish it might be a rotating magnetoboard with radial working grindstone) to witch I built a extra disc where I can mount the hondadisc to grind the frontside. Backside is easily done as the disc is ”glued” on the magnetoboard. You need to find a machineryshop with that kind of grinder. Unfortunately the company not far from me went bankrobbed so now I do not know where to do it anymore.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I have a couple of local machine shops to check with. This is a little bit beyond my abilities.
