I have had the pleasure of seeing this bike up close a few times and even had the opportunity to help start the bike at the 2019 Quail Motorcycle Gathering. It is a FANTASTIC piece of history. This is on the level of the prototype that Vic sold (which I also saw in person). This will be a very fun auction to watch. Read the full story too...Vic has done an enormous amount of work on this race bike!

This is an amazing piece of engineering and was awesome to see and hear at the Quail with Sam.  It was probably the loudest bike there.  Also to get the 13:1 compression that Vic was able to get from an early Sandcast engine is a remarkable feat.  The amount of rare parts that are on this bike makes it nearly one of a kind.  Vic mentioned that the gears were hand made, the cylinder head valve cover was engineered with bolts that run through the cover and stabilize the rocker towers, and he also said the clearance of the vavles and pistons was so close and precise that the pistons would "self clean". I posted a video of Sam starting the CR750 on Youtube.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgpudMsulzo

Love that video. It was fun to help Vic start that bike. I can only describe the sound as "brutally angry"!
