Not sandcast related, but since you mention it Ash.... my 400-4, with just 3000 recorded miles when bought 35 years ago definitely had (and still has) a bzp finish brake caliper spring.

CB750 definitely chromed finish.

Just bought a Genuine Honda CB750K0 spring from David Silver and it is chrome plated and yes I agree Chris, 400/4 spring  was BZP.

I cleaned up my cam chain tensioner housing recently on my 10/69 diecast  and the adjuster bolt and nut appear to  be chrome plated. Any thoughts on this.
My bike had many non-standard parts on it when I got it, so possibly not original finish.

No chrome on the clamp screw nut, just zinc plated... ;)
